One-Owner Survivor: 1970 Porsche 911

1970 Porsche 911 T Coupe

We featured this 1970 Porsche 911 back in July, but it never sold and has since been relisted. It’s said to be an all-original survivor and does look the part. It has reached $28,800 at the time of writing by 11 bidders. There is a reserve though, so it might take a lot more to bring this car home. This Porsche is located in Memphis, Tennessee. Posted in the listing is a VIN, 79,285 miles on the odometer, and a clean title. You can view more here on eBay. A special thanks go to Patrick S for the tip!

Powering this Porsche is a 2.2 liter, 6 cylinder engine that does run. The seller claims the have a video of it running. That is connected to a manual transmission. Some mechanical work is being serviced currently in the form of a clutch and brake maintenance. The listing mentions that the fuel system was overhauled not long ago, which included a fuel pump and new fuel tank. Also noted is that the car has matching date coded wheels.

Inside, the car is plain and simple. It might need some detail work done to clean it up, but it does look complete. The seller says the car is rust free and based on the photos, that appears to be true. They do say that it will require some work though to restore it lightly and preserve it for another number of years. They do post quite a number of pictures showing numbers and authentic information.

Sadly, while this car has only been owned by one person, it has been off the road since the ’70s. That seems like quite a disappointment considering how thrilling these cars are claimed to drive. However, the owner probably never dreamed just how much the value of these cars would increase. Hopefully, they are going to reap the benefit of it. If not, someone is going to get a large sum of money, and someone else is going to get a great Porsche that they will hopefully drive and enjoy.

I’ll take ten of them at that price!
It sure seems like folks could store cars better.
    I’ll be watching.

For 28k would figure the engine and
Interior to look better than that!

Seriously? I guess you haven’t been paying attention. 911 prices have gotten so stupid that for 28K I’d figure you’d get a Porsche insignia and a pile of red dust! Don’t get me wrong though, 911s are my favorites, and the prices have started to moderate a bit.

I think the air-cooled 911/912 mania has almost run its course. These are great cars, but do not have the same panache as Ferrari or some other Italian makers. I say this having owned a 911, 914, and 944. But then again, I passed on a chance to buy Bitcoin when it was a penny, so don’t take my word!

Nice car but the gas shocks on the front struts won’t make the handling any good. The ’70s 911s were never that high off the ground. Balance of the entire suspension is out of wack on a car that was one of the best handling cars Porsche built in those days.

Beautiful looking car! I’ve always loved old-school Porsche 911s. $28k is a good price for a classic sports car, particularly one so original. But if I were to buy the car, I’d reduce the price a tad, just so that I can have a complete inspection done before buying the car.

Forgive me for my ignorance – but why is there no questions as to which 911 it is?
Is it an S, or a T etc
Or was there only one 911 model in 70?
