One Family Owned: 1969 Buick Electra 225
Have you ever felt left out of the fun? Well, my dad had a brother and two sisters, the brother and one of the sisters had a 1969 Buick Electra. While the other sister didn’t have one, her son had one, but we never did. The best we could do was my mother owned a 1969 Chevrolet Impala in this color. Here is a 1969 Buick Electra 225 Custom Sport Coupe for sale here on Autotrader in Williamsburg, Virginia.
This Electra 225 is in original condition and was always owned by the same family, the father passed it down to his son. The Trumpet Gold paint is original and the car is very clean. The brown vinyl roof appears to be in good condition as well. About the only thing I can see in the pictures is it appears that the center grille divider section may have been bumped and slightly dented. All moldings and trim appear to be in good condition and there is no sign of rust.
In 1969 there were three interior styles available, the standard, the Custom, and the Limited. This is the Custom interior. It is finished in vinyl with a center fold-down armrest in the front seat. There is something at the edge of the driver’s seat that I can’t make out if it’s a stain or rip, but this appears to be the only area of concern. The rear seat features a center speaker notched into the top center of the seat. The car has an AM/FM radio, aftermarket CB radio, and Buick floor mats. It also has power windows and power seat, as well as remote control outside mirror.
The engine is a 430 cubic inch 4 barrel V-8 that originally produced 360 horsepower and is mated with a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission. The engine was recently serviced with many new parts including plugs, wire, and distributor cap. The car has 114,849 miles. It is being offered for sale by a dealer which is asking $5,995. Who’s up for a trip to Williamsburg to pick up this clean 1969 Buick Electra 225 Custom and add to their collection?

Man, this thing is practically ready to go and I wouldn’t mind going to get it. Can’t see it lasting long at that price. I know some people just aren’t “car people” but if that Buick had belonged to my grandfather, it wouldn’t be going anywhere unless I was in financial ruin. I’d feel like I was selling a family member.
Agree TimS. But many people are: 1. Not sentimental about anything. 2. They want money above all else. So, it just gets liquidated for the money.
Hey Tim, If you’re still around and are interested I have one that is the colors, but is a four door and cloth interior. It’s been in storage for over 30 years.
I had an uncle who would get a new one of these every three years; I guess the diary business was a pretty good place to be back in the 50-70’s. But, if you spend most of your seven days a week on a tractor or in a barn with a bunch of smelly cows a nice ride, especially on Sunday to church, is little enough to ask.

It would be a nice ride back from Williamsburg, just wind that speedometer up to about 80 and let the car do the rest. This is a long distance cruiser, at 80 mph you would still have a lot of pedal left. Good looking and it’s a 2 door to boot. Very nice car.

A 4 door in `78, and a convertible in `95 pictured below.
A-frame bushings were the only weak link in those.
The 430 was a great engine.
I installed a second one in the convertible, from an earlier year.
Only the intake manifold and oil pan had to be switched over.
Then just kept plugging vacuum lines until it idled right…
That’s a great price for a turn key cruiser.

I don’t see this cruiser lasting too long at that price and these babies do cruise.My dad had a 4 door dark green with a black vinyl top with the Buick rims.This one here is a nice one.
These are rare birds. My dad had a green ’67 Electra 2-door coupe with creme interior. I borrowed it for a couple of weeks; lots of power but brakes that were either on or off. It was huge, but not my type of car. His next one was, his ’64 Riviera that he babied for over 15 years.
Anyone know what the box mounted on the drivers side fenderwell is? Kinda looks like a transistor ignition box which would have been an option if available on buicks back then. Just curious!
Our family car was a brown ’69 LeSabre 400 back in the day. I still remember when my dad bought that car new. With 6 of us, it was a great road trip car. This Electra certainly brings back memories, but my fantasy ’69 Buick would be the Wildcat.

The 69 model GM luxury cars were so attractive. The front end changes for 70 on all models were in my opinion, not an improvement at all. My favorites are the big tall formal roofline sedans. Give me a 69 Oldsmobile 98 Luxury sedan, a 69 Electra Limited sedan and a 69 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham in that order. The Olds 98 was always my favorite and still is.
