Original with sleek styling, this ’39 Buick Special Business Coupe is way to cool not to consider. With plenty of original paint, this Buick has been out of Business since the late 1980’s where it has hibernated in a garage. With a claimed 33,980 miles and being on its second owner, this Buick looks like it could be a solid survivor. Power is generated by a 248 cubic inch inline 8 engine, and transmitted through a column shifted manual transmission. The inline 8 was last running in the 1980’s and at the least needs the water pump rebuilt. Looking the engine over, you can still see the red lettering on the side of the valve cover that would have read “Buick 8 Dynaflash”. Visibly the engine and bay look good and untouched. Since this Buick has always been garaged there is some hope that the Dynaflash engine could be revived.

Looking at the interior picture of this Buick makes the eyes work hard to see what is and isn’t there. The driver door panel is missing. The bench seat looks original but with obvious flaws ranging from staining to rips that look rodent formed. The floor looks to have some surface rust. It appears superficial, but is difficult to make out. The dash looks to have a healthy shine giving some evidence of the interior being in better condition than what this image represents. The exterior photos are also lacking in detail, but we can see enough to take the gamble for the seller’s asking price. It is evident that the paint is still shinny underneath the many years of dust. There is some missing paint on the passenger front fender, but looks to only be surface rust. There are some other various areas that have some missing paint, but it would appear that most of the paint is present. Although difficult to make out, it appears there may be a couple of dents in the passenger door as well. The only missing item we see from this Buick is the tall “bumperette” that mounts in the center of the front bumper.

By no means perfect, we are still enchanted by this Business Coupe and its reasonable asking price. It seems to be a whole lot of car for the money. We know we are onboard with this Buick, what about you?
