Lot Of 4! 1970 Beetle, 1973 Bradley GT Plus 2 More VW Creations

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

If you’ve been in the market for a nice Beetle and have room for three other drivers on the same chassis, this may be your lucky day as just about everything regarding this lot of four Volkswagen cars here on Facebook Marketplace seems to indicate that the owner is ready to make a deal and part with his collection.  The ad has already been up for six weeks and the seller mentions $12,000 will buy all four, but then goes on to say he’s considering offers and is even open to the idea of a trade, plus the price has been lowered to $10.500 in another section of the listing, so I’m guessing there’s a good chance there’s room for considerable negotiation here as it sounds like the seller wants them gone.  Head on over to Marseilles, Illinois with a large trailer and a wad of cash if you’re ready to bring these home.

Ted, thanks for your great tip here!  We don’t get a whole lot of information about each car, but the 1970 Beetle is said to be running and driving great with just some brake work being the only thing mentioned as needing attention.  We get four photos of this one and they’re all from the outside, but the body appears to be in good shape and complete other than a missing VW emblem on the hood and no hubcaps, plus the wipers and windshield washer are also MIA.  We don’t get to see inside, but a glance through the front glass shows at least part of the front seats looking OK.

The silver creation with the white top is on a 1969 chassis, and it almost reminds me more of a mini Munsters mobile than a VW Buggy.  The good news with this one is the seller says it’s also running and driving well with no needs at the moment.  Even the top canvas appears to be in reasonably good condition and the plastic windows relatively clear, so it may be road-ready or might make a fun beach cruiser if you happen to have any sand nearby.

I was a bit surprised to see the lot included a Bradley GT, back from those fun days when you could order a kit car and put it onto a VW donor chassis and create your own fiberglass car any way you wanted.  Its platform is from 1973 with the seller mentioning this one does need some work but is in good shape, and fortunately we do get to see the interior here which shows a decent-looking dash layout.

The orange car is on a 1964 platform and is perhaps the least desirable of the bunch, although the seller claims all that’s needed here is just a simple carburetor cleaning and those Mustang taillights do look pretty cool on the back.  Every car here is said to be street legal plus each one comes with a title, so if this is your kind of cluster it may be hard to beat for the money, especially if the blue Beetle is as good as it appears.  What are your thoughts on this collection of VW-inspired autos?

My thoughts, you say? Well, the young man who is selling them, named “Ty”, is probably liquidating dads collection, the handicap plate on the blue one is the key. Bugs are hot, but I think the other ones have a much more limited audience. Time after time, we see these collections being sold off, by people with little or no interest, and dads bills to pay, I’m sure. These collections are from a more simple time, when yeah, you could have half a dozen of something and didn’t have $300grand invested. The Bug is an easy sell, but the others, I don’t know, do people still drive dune buggies somewhere?
Also, I’ve said before, if you don’t have FB, I don’t think you can view Marketplace. A shame, as no matter how you feel about Facebook, the Marketplace has, by far, the neatest conglomeration of stuff I’ve ever seen. I belong to FB just for that.

Howard, unfortunately your probably correct on this one. With the side curtains probably drove them right into late fall in that part of the country. Probably could get more getting them all up and running and selling them individually.

Mustie1 is probably already on his way to pick them up and rebuild carburators!

I see a Volkswagen Fun Pack. One good Beetle and a parts counter.

The two happiest days of my life was when I bought my first 1972 Volkswagen, and the day that I sold it.
If they got about 50-60 mpg on gas, a heater that worked and some decent brakes, and whatever else that I’m forgetting, then just maybe I could justify another bug?
Even the newer one that they made later was not impressive to me.
    Bad transmissions etc.
I realize this is very negative, but I just don’t have anything better to say?
Good luck to the new owner.
    This one looks good!
    Just my oponion!

Nice write up! Thank for the mention! And regarding FB… I’m not a big fan of that social media, but the Marketplace is a great source of many needed/wanted “things”!
    Regards, Ted
