Looking For A Project? Take Your Pick!
This seller has several cars for sale and they’re all projects, although some will need more work than others. Most of them are Chrysler products and you can grab one for as little as $1,000. Nothing is more than $4,500, but that will get you a two-for-one. Most of them do not have titles, so they’ll go with a bill of sale. Upwards of 70 years old in some cases, these cars are located in a field in Nipomo, California and available here on craigslist.
The seller is not only selling, but he’s also buying. His preferences seem to be Chrysler muscle cars from the 1970s along with certain Chevies, Pontiacs, and Fords. A variety of nameplates and engine sizes are tagged. Besides the cars listed by model year below, there are also a couple of Simca Aronde’s, but there is no indication of when they were built (but somewhere in the 1950s/1960s). The brown one runs, while the white one has a stuck motor. We’re told there are enough parts to fix both trucks. The asking price is $3,500 for the pair, and that includes all the extras.
1949 Plymouth Suburban – this is a 2-door wagon that was disassembled, but the owner passed away. Most of the parts were subsequently lost, such as the engine, transmission, steering column, dashboard and seats. It has some rust but is said to have never been wrecked.
1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe – this was to be a donor car to fix up the Suburban and they got it running instead. It’s complete except for the seat frames. We’re told that the flathead-six with 3-speed manual transmission runs great. These two cars will be sold as a pair for $4,500.
1959 Skoda Octavia – this Czech car was built between 1959-71, but the seller doesn’t know what model year the car is, and we don’t either. The car has been sandblasted to bare metal but has yet to be primed. It’s been in storage under a tarp for several years and there is no drivetrain. The asking price is $1,650 and this was the primary car focused on in the seller’s listing.
1954 Plymouth Belvedere – this 4-door sedan was damaged in a grass fire that melted the windshield and toasted the interior. It’s said to have been a nice car before that, although it had not run in 30 years. It also has the flathead-six with a semi-automatic transmission and $1,000 will take it home.
1959 Plymouth Belvedere – another 4-door sedan that has a 318 V8 that we’re told will run. It has the push-button transmission that Chrysler was big on in those days. There is rust in the rocker panels and front door, along with a crinkly in one of the fenders. The seller is asking $1,850.
1962 Chrysler Imperial – this top-of-the-line Chrysler 4-door hardtop. The seller has managed to get the 413 V8 to start up. There is some light rust, a few little dents and a bent front bumper. The interior is said to be a lost cause. $2,500 takes it.
1972 Dodge Monaco – this is a six-passenger station wagon that runs well. It will need some additional work to be considered a driver. It’s said to have minimal rust and dents, but no photo is provided. We’re also told production numbers were low that year, little more than 2,500. The asking price is $2.750 OBO.
1988 Pontiac Safari – this wagon has seating for nine and looks to be the best car in the bunch. The small V8 runs but smokes for reasons unknown. The battery is new, and the tires are good. The interior is nice with a couple of exceptions, while the body has a couple of small dents and rust spots. The A/C works great. The seller will take $2,000 and has a title for this one.

I came across one of those Simca pickups a while back,
just North of Grants Pass,Oregon. It was in much better shape,
& was that “Simca Gray” color,& wasn’t running. The owner was
asking $150 for it.Only pickup I’ve ever seen.I went back there
about five years ago when they were having an auction next door,
& it was gone.
My Grandmother had an Aronde coupe.Bought it new.She
drove it from the Tacoma,WA area to Northern CA many times. At
the time I didn’t think there was anything unusual about that.
If you have the money, time & space to restore go for it!
More interested in the mostly hidden black and white car in the first picture. Maybe a Dodge Royal Lancer?
Looking for a 1960 to 1971 Simca 1000, the rear engined Simcas.
Need the transmission/transaxle, can anyone help?
