Mopar Pickup! 1969 Dodge D-100 Sweptline
The D-100 Sweptline was Dodge’s basic ½-ton pickup for more than 30 years. It gave way later to the Ram series that are so popular today. The Sweptline was a smooth-sided truck whereas the Utiline was the fender-sided version of the workhorses. The seller’s ’69 D-100 is something you seldom see – a largely original, unmolested hauler that appears to have led quite the sheltered life. From San Jose, California, this survivor is available here on craigslist for $24,950. Another great tip dug up by Barn Finder T.J.!
When it left the assembly line, this Dodge was built for light-duty considering it was ordered with Chrysler’s venerable 225 Slant Six engine, but this one is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission (instead of a 3-speed). It has a “compound” low first gear that may have been intended to provide greater torque when pulling away from a stop. At 70,000 miles, it’s a good running pickup that won’t leave drops of oil or coolant in the driveway. Recent upgrades include a new fuel sending unit and door locks.
The pale green paint on the D-100 is original and presents quite nicely, although the seller has repainted the white top, front grille, and mirrors. You’re not likely to find rust anywhere on the vehicle. The interior, while spartan, looks quite tidy and this example comes across as a truck you could take home and not have to begin repairs on. If you were to buy this truck and expect it to retain value, then using it as a pickup wouldn’t be a good idea. Take it to Cars & Coffee instead and show them something different as opposed to another Mustang or Camaro.

Don’t know the 1st thing about ’em, but this really looks good and seems to be offered at a fair price.
This is the nicest one of these I’ve ever seen . My parents had a few of these . We hauled wood with them in places a rabbit wouldn’t go . They were both beat to death when we got rid of them ( more like junked ) . My mom fell out of the back of one of them because I didn’t latch the chain/hook tailgate properly ( I was only 8 yrs. old ) . She was tough
though . While it hurt , she was tough and escaped serious injury .
1969 engine color is red.
the old slant 6 cyl good engine nice old truck not to many factory ops on that model
I thought the trucks were supposed to get a special HD version of the 225, painted yellow.
These were good trucks. Though the 6 in this is not enough motor. Neighbor had -with 8–4 wheel drive 3 speed. Though they do have rust problems in these years. I have a 71 with the 3 speed -318. That is alot better. On level ground it would be good, but in mountans it wouldn,t be. Unless it has a low gears. Its a nice looking truck.
They were good trucks but tinny , not much sound deadner ,,not as quiet as GM or Ford,,and style wasnt bad either
I have had many of these and this has to be the best looking almost all original one I’ve seen in a long time. Nice color combo.
I’ve never been a fan of Dodge or Ram trucks, ever. But this one really caught my attention.
Very nice!
