Modified 454/4-speed: 1973 Chevrolet Corvette

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Some enthusiasts like a bone stock car while others like to modify their looks and performance. Clearly, the owner of this 1973 Chevrolet Corvette decided to modify this car and added side pipes, aftermarket wheels, flared rear quarter panels and a custom paint color. This Corvette is located in Hallandale, Florida and is listed at a Buy It Now Price of $25,900 here on eBay. The seller also has a Make an Offer option and there are 3 days remaining in the listing.

The modifications don’t stop with the exterior of the car. The owner has added Corbeau seats which I am amazed that they fit in the driver’s compartment. The black interior looks fairly stock otherwise. I can’t tell if the car has a factory radio. Chevrolet built 30,464 Corvettes in 1973 and only 4,412 were ordered with the LS4 option 454 cubic inch V8 engine. I remember the first time I saw a 1973 Corvette with a 454 cubic inch engine. It was at an autocross and the car kept fouling the plugs. Or at least that is what the owner claimed.

The fun part of this car is the drive train. There are no claims that this is the original engine or that this car came with a 454 cubic inch V8 engine from the factory. The factory rating was 275 horsepower but obviously this engine has been modified and is also backed by a 4 speed transmission. The car does not have much of a description except that it runs, shifts and brakes great.

The baby blue exterior is bright and looks well applied in the pictures. The owner states that the car has no leaks from the engine, gearbox or rear differential. The mileage is states as 8,600 miles which I assume is since the restoration or modification of the car. The VIN for the Corvette is 1Z37Z3S430280 which indicates that the car left the factory with an LS4 454 cubic inch V8 engine.

I just scanned the BF page and it appears to be Corvette day. I haven’t been a fan since Route 66 went off the air, but back then they were all the rage with my young friends. Then after my three year time in the army, getting married and starting a family two seaters were out of the question. My friend Jim owned several of them throughout his years with Mobil oil. He tells me the only way he could keep from getting tickets was to become a part time deputy Sheriff so that’s what he did. Now he’s as old as me and time has calmed him down. He’s married to a wonderful woman, is retired and drives some type of Japanese small car. We’ll both be 75 this summer and remain best friends. His health is starting to be an issue now with skin cancer and some form of blood cancer, but he says the Doctors say he’s still in the early stages and they might find a cure so he keeps plugging along and telling me his stories of time in the middle east with Mobil and his Corvette experiences. We both lived wild youthful lives, but settled down after meeting the right woman and letting God be first in our lives.

    God Bless America

LOL, this is the color that my ’70 Vette Convertible was when I bought it. That, and the shag carpeting were the first two things to go when I had saved up some money. Drove it the first year that way and felt embarrassed.

This particular car looks to be a decent buy for someone who like this look. The seller needs to provide a LOT more information about it before anyone should feel comfortable bidding on it.

If you have a minute, check out the seller’s other items – I have never seen a more electic mix of auctions. Mostly magic, mentalism stuff.

I have a 68 with the same motor. Anyone know what brand of serpentine pulley set up on the front of that motor is? Cheers

Put some purple and darker blue candy paint with cob webs on hood would help.

The color is different, which if you want something unusual this one is your cup-of-tea. Big thing to me, this is one you’d better be careful getting in and out of. Those side pipes can take off a lot of flesh if you’re not careful.

I like this Vette, the only thing that I would perhaps, change are the seat but would try them out first. I like the color and Cragars are always tops on my list. That big 454 rat seals the deal for this old boy.
