Mild Mods: 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The Fox-body Ford Mustang Cobra can easily be described as a modern collector car, and there are plenty out there that command big money as low-mileage cream puffs. Fortunately, plenty of Mustang enthusiasts still elected to actually “drive” their Cobras, so you can find examples with some real-world miles on the clock for reasonable prices. This 1993 Cobra here on eBay has 88,300 miles and is currently bid to just under $30,000 with the reserve unmet.

The Cobra shown here has some actual use under its belt, as evidenced by the fact it’s inching closer to 100K miles. Of course, even if it’s used regularly during the most seasonal times of the year, it will still be a while before the Cobra racks up six digits on the cluster. The paint shines nicely, as do the factory Cobra wheels. The seller doesn’t relay any suspension modifications, and the glass doesn’t appear to be tinted, either.

The interior is in very nice shape with gray cloth and matching carpets/floor mats. Red over gray is a popular color combination for one of these, so you’re not going to necessarily stand out from the crowd if you attend a Cobra gathering. The good news is the small details like the factory floor mats still presenting as new despite having close to 90,000 on the clock suggests this owner took care to maintain the Cobra while still giving it plenty of exercise.

The engine bay presents like that of a driver, and you can’t easily spot the few modifications the seller has made. The listing notes he has installed Trickflow twisted wedge heads, Stage 1 cam, and shorty headers, along with a cat-less H pipe paired to a Flowmaster exhaust. Those are pretty much par for the course upgrades on any car that isn’t excessively modified, so this Cobra checks all the boxes as a fun driver that will keep appreciating while you use it.

Highly desirable Fox Body. Jeff has done a good job of “placing” this car in context. Some mods, but nothing extreme. Still retains its attractive stock looks and is in good shape, especially for the mileage. So the next owner should have no qualms with driving it.

It wasn’t long ago that this price would buy a low-mileage example. They have greatly appreciated in the last few years. As an extreme illustration, the two “wrapper” Cobras at Mecum Indy cracked six figures (including buyer’s premium).

If it were me interested in buying this car, I would definitely want more information as to why there was a duplicate title ordered? Maybe for other reasons, but I’d sure be upset if I found after purchasing it was a flood vehicle or worst yet, a rebuilt title which in fact would affect its value. GLWTS.

Love these Cobras. Would give my left N for one. BTW, am I silly to notice directional wheels not matched? 🤔

I saw this as well. Wheels mounted in the wrong direction happens on the same era Taurus SHO “slicers” too.
