Mini Meet West Ready! 1966 Mini Panel Van
Credit the seller of this 1966 Austin Mini Panel Van for aligning his location with the upcoming Mini Meet West 2018,an annual gathering of fans of the Mini. The event takes place in a little over a month in Oregon, exactly where this Mini project is located. Find it here on eBay where bidding is just over $3K and the auction ends on Thursday.
While the Mini certainly looks better on the driver’s side, there’s still a fair amount of bodywork to sort out. The seller notes the side panels have been cut away for windows, and I wonder just how precisely they fit. The rear doors sound a bit dodgy based on the seller’s description that they’ve been repaired with body putty. Replacement doors and panels are included, however.
The interior looks quite original and also disheveled. You likely won’t be driving this to the annual MMW meet, but perhaps some of you are braver than I. The windshield glass is cracked and the passenger side window was recently damaged, but you’re also looking at complete replacement of any carpets and refurbishment of the door panels and dashboard.
No word on the Mini’s mechanical health, but it sounds like the seller would be willing to send you off with some spare parts should you take this panel van project on. “I have a garage full of parts and pieces including blocks and gear housings, carbs, a set of pedals, spare wheels and much more.” So if you’re already planning to check out the West Coast’s premier Mini gathering, maybe you can take this home as a souvenir.

Mini Meet West Ready!
Whoever can say that three times fast wins the car.
like it, the glass placed in the panels is an improvement (just darken em).
Cool project. This is a real mini!!
Good luck to the new owner!
If I wasn’t long on projects, and short of time, money, workspace, and in eastern Ontario, I’d be right there. This is in the right price range, looks to be in pretty decent shape, has the cooper-type remote shifter trans, the spares are a plus, and any 1966 Mini is my favorite. Woe is me, cannot do it.
I own a 2013 Mini Cooper Clubvan, only one of 50 in the states. This one would be it’s grandparent. Love the lines. Amazing to drive and to haul our PitBulls in with the flat carpeted floor with cage wall so we can drive without kissing distraction.
Merlin,
That is a pho-mini (as in clone or fake) made by BMW to look like a classic Mini – no relationship dude.
Please don’t insult the classic Mini by trying to draw some sort of linearage between the BMW manufactured Mini, and the original BMC/BLMC classic mini and insult classic Mini enthusiasts !
Correct, Peter!! I worked for a BMC dealer in the 60’s and those Mini coopers were the hot setups. IMHO, no comparison to the New Mini-Probably crude in comparison, the old Mini’s had few creature comforts, but did what they were designed —tearing up the highway!
Too bad they didn’t import them in the 60’s—thank goodness for the gray market
Probably the best part on it is the air vent on the roof which would make a great vent for a Healey Hard Top
I believe those vents are the same as the ones on a Land Rover “tropical roof”.
