This is potentially a unique opportunity for the right person.
Crabby old truck drivers need not apply,,, :)
Hey! I resemble that remark.;)
Crabby old truck mechanics need not apply.
Howard A, You’d be great at this….
@LMK
Howard A writes for BF: “…and then, when I was 12…” 😉
(actually, he would be great, but this sounds suspiciously like work…)
Well, I guess that eliminates me Howard A, 45 years driving trucks. I have good days and bad days. Plus I only know stuff about Fords and Mercurys and I hate cheebies. I’m out, sorry.
Don’t worry folks, I’m far too opinionated to be a writer here. Writers need to be open minded,( check), honest( check) and sing the praises of the least likely vehicles,( no check) whether they actually like them or not. It’s not their job to express personal feelings, something I obviously have little control over.
I’m a crabby old truck driver 😂😂😂😂 40 years in the grind but I think I’d be a really dumb journalist 😁😁😀
I always manage to miss chance’s like this! But then again I would just write about Squarebody’s cause I’m in love with them! And I’m sure alot of folks would get tired of reading about them!
I think this is perfect for my husband. He has been rebuilding muscle cars since the 60’s, not to mention he is a mechanic by trade. He is like a walking encyclopedia of classic cars! Application on the way.
Satch? SATCH!! Should I?
xoxoxo Phelpsie
but…wordpress? Learn something new? Heck those two turbos are still in the yard!
Given people’s use of smart phone texting short hand, requiring people to write complete sentences might be too high of a hurdle to clear.
That was funny! sadly true though….
Nope.
The timing is right, ski season is over, I just might apply. This sounds like a great gig.
This has always been, and will be my passion, I love classic cars and writing about them,so highly considering applying, was my sentence structure ok?,and punctuation.
Good one Kevin.
LOL, need to consult with the on staff “comma man.” I will admit that he has gotten considerably better.
Who, me? I, don’t, use, anymore, commas, than, anyone, else,,,
Not even close.
No.
As a published Automotive Journalist (Great Grilles of the 50’s) I think I’m going to give this one a whirl.
Wasn’t that a BBQ book? Good Luck anyhoo…
I’ve sent mine too. I’m good at fiding something interesting about the malaise era and those bubbletronics – anything between 1973 and 1996 is on my radar, the classic coke-bottles are for other auction websites or concours d’elegances. We want old junks sitting here and there.
*finding
…and, run-on sentences are not good, grammatically speaking.
How much do they pay?
We pay per post and it all depends on if you can write without us having to edit everything.
Whoa, talk about digging up an old thread.
@Don Eladio, at least it wasn’t a dangling participle.
For those of us who don’t use our dangling participles much these days, this looks to be a great opportunity.
Jesse, can I still submit articles without
using WordPress? I’m legally blind and use a specially equipped tablet that might be incompatible with that platform. And don’t let the legally blind
thing scare you, I’ve been tinkering with
old cars for most of my life and I know
what I’m talking about. My parents told
me that I could do anything I set my mind to except drive!
Sure, just follow the steps provided and we will take a look. Thanks for your interest!
I get this job opeing on Oct 7 and the applications are due Oct 8th?
That was done on purpose actually. We are looking for writers with quick turn around. Thanks!
?? And it pays? W no editing needed?
I would love to do this on a part time basis, I’m sure the pay wouldnt be enough full time, but this would be fun for just about any car enthusiast that has decent grammatical abilities.
Writers are paid per post so it can be part time or full time depending on your schedule and abilities.
All I can say is WOW! It’s unbelievable the questions you’re being asked. I guess the passion and love of automobiles comes as second nature to more individuals than I could have ever imagined who are following this site. Hang in there as best you can, it might get better.
We do everyday at no charge to Barnfind and some do not hold back!
Just think people one year of research with Barnfind will make you a knowledgeable car guy. Instead of owning a used car lot and kicking tires at the auctions every week or working at a friends restoration shop.
Ex-technical writers preferred with an automotive background.
That’s me! GEAE Technical Publications Technical Writer on GE Military and Commercial engines with an FAA A&P license. We write concise sentences to an 8th grade reading level following US Military Writing Specifications. We plagiarize to keep the price per page down.
hey can an all-caps writer apply? no?? so sad!!
good one erik!!
I just emailed my submission. I’m dyslexic, so I hope the good folks at BF don’t ding me too hard for that. J/K! I’m actually quite excited. Looking forward to a response – good or bad.
I submitted mine just now. Journalism, but especially journalism to something I hyperfixate on, is something I dream of doing. Hope to get a reponse!
No mention of potential compensation?
Sure there is. Please go back and read the info above. Thanks!
I’d never heard of WordPress til now… downloaded the app, but I haven’t had time to figure out how to use it.
I sure as hell will quickly learn if given the opportunity to write for BF. I’m living proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
If I may ask, who ended up being chosen for this position?
We hired a few last year but this is a new round.
Jesse, does this new round require new submissions, or are you considering applicants from that last group?
New submissions. If you didn’t get hired last time around, there was a reason. Thanks.
Would you consider an Australian writer? I can’t really add much more to your coverage of American cars, but maybe there’s some interest in Australian market cars?
That would be fine but you would have you cover US market cars. Adam, one of our top writers, lives in Tasmania.
Thus, if you weren’t hired from the last round-don’t apply again?
No, just be sure to follow the application instructions as best you can.
@Jeff – Feel free to apply next time around. Thanks!
This would be great for me!! I am also ASE Certified…..”Ayas See” what I can screw up next!
Hello:
Can my dog apply to this position?
He has had experience riding shotgun with me and hanging his head out the window for many years .
He is able to spot classic 1968 Shelby GT’s with 428 Cobra Jets with his keen vision. He also a Corvette aficionado and prefers the C2 years.
I am sure the salary would cover his milk bone and kibbles which keep him amiable and ready to keyboard exceptionally great stories.
Is there any other format other than
WordPress that I can use? Here in
Florida, this app is not compatible with Spectrum internet unless you pay them $200-300 up front to make
it work. Being on a fixed income, those kinds of charges would wipe me out. Can I submit with straight
E-mail? If I can, great! I could sure
use the extra cash.
WordPress is free to use so don’t worry about that.
So….., As a student majoring in English, my accompanying students, following me down this path of folly adopted the reply to the pervasive question “What is your major.”? “I are a English major”, we would reply. Few got it. Thus, today, I am reticent to submit any inquiries or requests to write about anything regarding my vast wealth of automotive institutional knowledge to be introduced into the public domain other than this comment. Yes, it would be fun to write for this forum, but now in the witness protection program, I may get discovered. Just kidding of course….. well, maybe…
With all this repose this might be the do not call list. One question I have is, do you have to know what you’re talking about? Do you have to see the car? Or are you just talking about the history of the car? Work at home? Heck I am retired, I can do! Email me with an offer!!!
Please read the application instructions above. Thanks!
MIKE IS SPOT ON, my typing is horrid and though I have had 30 hit rods in y 91 years and have written 3 books about and another one about my 43 years in combat life I may be too obtuse about the pearl harbor guys cars. BHUT Il love seeing what all youse guys have to say.
Jesse, I applied several years ago and was rejected. Why? I have no idea. I had 25 years newspaper experience in Philadelphia and was an editor at Hemmings Motor News from 2004 to 2008. I have judged cars at concours events, have owned 45 cars, including two Corvettes, two GTOs, etc, worknon my own cars and own a car detailing business with clients owning Rolls Royces and Ferraris.
Hi George, I went back and checked and you sent your credentials but didn’t write a post as requested in the application instructions. Feel free to apply again. Thanks.
If you are looking for a totally dedicated car nut in Europe (based in the UK) I am a very young 62year old who drives a modified mx5 plus an xjs an early a40 Somerset and am into f1 stock cars a plus American motor vehicles I could be your candidate.
Plus can write without autocorrect and use punctuation 😂😂.
Be sure to apply!
I guess I should have read the comments to the end before commenting earlier, but apparently the responses haven’t changed much in the past 2 years. I can only imagine how many times you’ve banged your head off the desk.
If anything,
the ONE post that should NOT have a comments thread
is the one looking for Barnfinds writers!
I’m inclined to agree. Peoples opinions here are far too diverse, mine included, and I don’t think the audience in the comment section would make very good writers. I’ve never gotten into the pay aspect, none of my business, except, in the 10 years I’ve been here, I’ve seen a lot of writers come and go. I certainly don’t think one will get rich writing for BarnFinds, or any web publication, for that matter, and it used to be why truck drivers did such awful work for such low pay, because we loved the job, and that was worth something. I enjoy all the writers contributions, some more than others, but the thing that bums me out when I see this ad come up, is who did we lose?
No edit bums me out too. Not to say, writing for BFs is awful, low pay work. It was the “we loved the job” part that should be highlighted.
losgatos, I’ll just bet you think the reason behind your statement is quite clear to everyone.
@370zpp hardly, pal!
