Hand-Me-Down Hot Rod: 1937 Hudson Terraplane
What Makes It Special? My Great Grandfather purchased this car in 1952 in Stockton, California. They drove it until the mid-’50s and then parked it on his ranch in Calaveras County, California. It was given to my father in the ’80s and he began to Street Rod it in the ’90s. It was painted in the summer of 2014 and he made it to the last Car Show cruise night at the local A&W that October and passed away from ALS a month later. I had it shipped to Wisconsin the spring of 2015 and I have put less than 200 miles on it. It set in the garage from October of 2016 until the last few weeks when I decided to get it out and clean it up to sell. With 3 young daughters and a busy schedule, it’s time to let someone else finish off the few things needed and enjoy the car.
Body Condition: Had a complete frame off sandblasting, in 2014 it was painted professionally by a shop in Visalia, California, however, there are some minor chips and scuffs as well as 1 ding in the passenger rear fender.
Mechanical Condition: It runs and drives well. It has a 289 V8 and a C-4 automatic from a late ’60s mustang. Also has a Mustang II IFS front suspension and a coil-over rear. Power Brakes with front discs and rear drums.

Your dad did a great job on this, Don! Hopefully your 3 girls got at least one good night of cruisin’ with you to remember when it’s gone.
Nice to see a street rod that isn’t powered by a small-block Chevy!
There’s a special place in my heart for the Terraplane. If I ever have the opportunity (and funds), I would give someone’s left nut for a ’34 Terraplane pickup or coupe.
I am sorry for the loss of your father a couple years ago, especially to ALS. My uncle, who I was raised with as a sibling, passed away of the same thing in 2011. Being in Milwaukee myself, I am a strong supporter of the ALS chapter on Mayfair road, off Burleigh. I wish you luck with the sale, cool car with a great family history!
You want to sell a car for $16k, and you only put 3 photos up. Not good advertising.
If you click on the link for the craigslist ad you would see there are a lot more photos in the actual ad that’s online. This article was just referencing that one.
There’s no A&W in Calaveras County. I smell some BS.
Didn’t say the A&W was in calaveras the ranch where the car parked is. Dad lived in Visalia.
