The “Tri-Five” Chevrolets of 1955-57 were quite popular, selling about 4.5 million cars in three years. Yet, of all the models available, the two-door station wagons weren’t in big demand. All three series (150, 210, and Bel Air) had one, with the latter being the Nomad “sport wagon.” From the outline of missing side trim on this one, the Chevy here appears to be a mid-range 210. It will need a lot of work, including a powertrain and an interior. Located in Larkspur, Colorado, this project is available here on craigslist for $3,600. In 1957, the 150 “Handyman” was your basic two-wagon and accounted for 15,087 copies. If you upgraded to the 210 with more chrome trim, you bought one of the 17,966 units made. At the Bel Air level, that body was jettisoned in favor of one that paralleled a Corvette show car from 1954. It was called the Nomad and saw only 6,264 builds before the company gave up on the approach. Considering that Chevy delivered 1.5 million automobiles in 1957, not many buyers wanted fewer than four doors in their wagons.

The seller provides two sets of photos of this wagon, some taken indoors and others outdoors. The status of the car seems to change a bit between the two in terms of what glass is installed (ex. the windshield is out in some, not in others). Much of the interior chrome has been removed but retained. Given some faded lettering on the driver’s door, it’s apparent that this wagon may have spent some time out at the local racetrack.

Besides an interior, we’re told this Chevy is also devoid of an engine and transmission of which the latter may have been a V8 at one time, along with a Powerglide automatic. The seller is providing a cadre of parts to help the buyer restore the wagon or make it a better candidate as a donor. Although a title exists for this 210, it was never notarized so the seller is planning to let it go with a bill of sale.
