I Scream, You Scream… Cushman Ice Scream Scooter
“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!” I might scream with joy a little riding this neat find down the road! Technically this is a “living room find”, as it was stored in someone’s living room until recently! This fully functional Cushman ice cream delivery scooter would be a lot of fun (and even profitable!) at a vintage car or motorcycle event, or a great way to involve younger folks in our hobby! It’s being stored in Phoenix, Arizona and is listed for sale here on eBay, where the buy-it-now is a steep $10,500 but bidding is considerably below that figure. Thanks to frequent finder Jim S. for this cool find!
These scooters were evidently produced for quite a while, and after some research it looks like they were used for everything from local deliveries to ferrying people around at military bases (with a forward-facing seat replacing the cooler). The seller tells us that this one runs great after being restored and the cosmetics certainly look great. I love the pinstriping detail around the tail light and on the fenders and body!
I found where what I’m sure is the same scooter sold for $7,100 at an estate auction in mid-January, so that should give you an idea of what the current seller is looking to get out of this auction. There are some nice detail shots at that link as well that show it as a little dusty but seemingly restored nicely. At that point in time the engine had not been tested, so the current seller has gotten it running.
The cooler isn’t refrigerated, it’s just insulated, so ice is needed to keep the ice cream cold. I can imagine the fun it would be to wheel this little scooter around a large car show handing out ice cream sandwiches!
I think I would have dusted the engine off while I was in there starting it. Can’t argue with how easy it is to get to, though! How many classic vehicles can you name that you could do a complete spark plug change in 30 seconds! Where would you take this cool find if you acquired it?

I would take to LIL STURGIS, hand out ice and other cold items
In someone’s livingroom…that certainly piques ones curiosity LOL.
This would be great for around town, the big box solves the biggest drawback to cruising two wheels.
Seriously? A Cushman is worth 10 grand? I just don’t see it. When I worked at a railcar manufacturer in portland years ago they had several of these, in beat up but operating condition. They sold for a couple hundred each. I wanted one to do this with but the (now ex) wife thought I was nuts. Hindsight…
I need one of these I have 7 good humor cold plate pushcarts
Wow that collector was either divorced / widower / Bachelor and I say this because my wife is a true blue car gal but there is no way in HELL she would let me keep one of my toys in our livingroom. It is a cool find and I would love to have it and he might get his price but not from me.
