First Year R/T: 1967 Dodge Coronet
The Dodge Coronet was already well into its fifth generation by the time 1967 rolled around, but it wasn’t until this year that a new R/T model was introduced, which was available as either a convertible or hardtop and came standard with Chrysler’s 440 Magnum, a big block making 375 horsepower right from the factory. If you’ve been in the market for a vintage B-Body, this 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T here on eBay might suit your needs nicely. The Mopar is located in Allen, Texas, with bidding already up to $19,975 but still short of reserve.
The only other engine available for the ’67 Coronet R/T was a 426 Hemi, but with an extra cost of over $900 most buyers stayed with the 440, and just for comparison’s sake that’s more than eight thousand dollars in 2023 currency. The motor under the hood here is not the numbers-matching block but is a 1966 dated 440 which just recently underwent a rebuild, with the seller telling us it produced around 430 HP on the dynamometer. The 4-speed manual transmission and Dana 60 rear-end are both stated to be the original drivetrain components.
Other than the owner mentioning that the car received one repaint a long way back, we don’t get any further details regarding the body itself or if it’s ever gotten any more attention other than the respray, but judging from the photos the panels appear to be in excellent shape and I’m not spotting any obvious corrosion anywhere outside. The seller does mention some patina on the finish, with perhaps the most noticeable defect being a scrape along the driver’s side door, so it will have to be up to the next owner to decide whether or not to take the exterior to a higher level or just enjoy cruising around the way it is now. I’d probably stick with the latter choice, at least for a while.
Most of the interior is said to be original, with new front seat covers and carpeting that was replaced some time ago, but one custom touch is a modified dash with some aftermarket gauges added plus an EQ and Realistic cassette stereo system. Most of the instruments are still functioning, but just in case the next driver isn’t a fan the sale also includes a factory dash frame and cluster, which appears to be in decent shape. One thing you may want to replace sooner is the windshield, which shows two vertical cracks near the center.
We get a couple of good shots provided of the car up on a lift, which both seem to back up the seller’s claim that this is a very, very solid Coronet R/T. It also appears dry underneath with no fluid leaks, plus that’s a 2.5-inch exhaust system in place with a crossover pipe in between, so that 440 must produce a beautiful rumble out of those tailpipes. Other than a few minor paint issues, I’m sure not finding much not to like here, how about you?

I agree this would be a very nice car to have, just the way it is.
nope other than the 4spd getting up graded to the aftermarket a833 based 5spd this is my favorite b-body.
and i actually like the modified dash with a cd capable stereo slotted in.
the only other addition for resto mod would be adding a/c
and none of those are deal breakers only my personal touches
even the color is good for me, same as my very first car/mopar
I’ve always liked the Coronet, especially the 1966/67 versions. This one looks pretty solid minus a few things here and there. I’d definitely replace the dash cluster for the original. The windshield as noted will need replaced at some point. Could use a new package tray. Also noticed, it’s got a hole in the top of the pass fender – missing the antenna. And, on pass door, it looks like a mirror gasket is in place, but no mirror..can’t really figure that one out since the footprint looks a little longer than the stock mirror. Still, a pretty clean and solid looking Mopar.
Something to dream about.
One would be a automatic with auto on the column with power steering with air.
What a sweet old Mopar! I love this thing just like she sits, especially the dog dishes, almost makes it look like an old detective’s car, but I’d love to put her in my stable! I had a friend in highschool who had a 67 Belvedere convertible, similar body style, but his I believe had a 383 4speed… I just dig that body style, almost as much as the 69 Chargers, and this one’s a looker! Dang, where’s my drool rag?!
If the engine block is not original, hopefully the cylinder heads are. The closed chamber heads with casting number 915 was one year only for the R/T in 1967 and what made the engine a “Magnum” 440.
