Field of Dreams? 1960s Mopar Collection
In many cases when we see a collection or group of vintage cars for sale, they tend to migrate to a particular brand or period. In this case, the seller no doubt has a thing for Chrysler products and has six of them waiting in a field in Julesburg, Colorado for one or more new owners. They’re all from the 1964-67 model years and wear either Chrysler or Dodge nameplates. Thanks to Barn Finder Gunter Kramer for turning up this menagerie of Mopars for us here on craigslist!
How these cars came together in a field isn’t known. Nor do we know how long they’ve been there. Three of them are convertibles, which may equate to smaller production numbers, and at least one of them is said to run. But they all have titles, which is always a plus. The seller may consider trades and seems to be interested in dirt bikes and Harleys. Let’s take a quick glimpse of what’s available.
1964 Dodge Dart GT – this one is a convertible and has a 273 cubic inch V8 engine with a push-button TorqueFlite automatic. It has some rust and may have once been burgundy in color. The top is shot, which suggests the interior probably has some corresponding damage. Asking price: $3,000.
1964 Dodge Dart GT – the hardtop counterpart to the other car. While this one also has the TorqueFlite transmission, it’s paired with Chrysler venerable 225 cubic-inch Slant Six motor. The condition of the body looks a little better than its droptop cousin. Asking price: also $3,000.
1964 Dodge Dart – 4-door sedan and grocery getter. The seller says it’s solid overall although it needs a new back window. One of the doors has a dent in it and there appears to be some quarter panel rust afoot. We don’t know which drivetrain is in place, but the Slant Six is a fair guess. Asking price: $1,200.
1966 Chrysler 300 – the Letter Series cars were done in 1965, so the 300s going forward were just sportier versions of the other full-size Chryslers. We’re told this 2-door hardtop has a 413 Wedge V8 and is a solid car, although the interior is “missing.” Asking price: $3,200.
1967 Chrysler Newport – the entry-level series and another convertible. A 383 V8 is said to reside under the hood, and it comes across as a solid car that needs restoring, like the others. The top is toast on this one, too, and the interior has suffered as a result. Asking price: $3,500.
1967 Dodge Polara – we may have saved the best one for last. A drop-top, this car has a functioning 440 big-block V8 and is loaded with power accessories. The body seems to have avoided the rust blight but its canvas top has also been damaged by UF rays. We could only find one reference to production numbers and 24,000 sounded high. Asking price: $5,500.

Does anyone have a small block 440?
Just curious.
Would possibly be very rare
No such thing, from the factory anyway. 360 is as big as they came
On which car? Some Polaras and Monaco’s came with 440’s, 383’s etc
No such animal! It was a leap to get a 273/318 to 360. Eighty inches more is too much of a stretch!
To paraphrase ‘Field of Dreams’, build a used car lot and they will come.
Looks like quite a crowd.
The Chysler letter car and the Newport look interesting. And at that price they are what they are. Good group find.
Letter cars ended in1965, that one is a ’66 Just FYI
