Great Condition: 1981 Corvette

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This 1981 Corvette has been sitting in a garage for the past 19 years, and now the seller is moving, with no place to store it in the new location, so it needs to go. They are asking $5,800 and the car is located in Lewiston, Idaho. There is no VIN or mileage listed, but the title is listed as clear. Thank you, Ikey H., for the tip. You can view more on Craigslist.

Under the hood the seller says that the 350 cubic inch V8 engine was rebuilt, along with the automatic transmission. They labeled it incorrectly in the Craigslist transmission info, but corrected it in the description, and you can see from the interior photos that it is in fact the automatic. You will want to remember that the rebuild was more than 20 years ago and the car currently does not run. It will need to be trailered home.

This car has modifications on the inside that look like they are straight out of the late ’80s or early ’90s. Most notable is the dashboard and other instrument gauges in the center console. They were probably very high tech for the time, but today, give the car more of a Knight Rider feel. The seats, upholstery and carpets all appear to be in good condition. The seller does note the original dash will come with the car.

Since it has been stored in a dry location for so long, this car is likely to be very good underneath, and for the price that is being advertised, this could be a very good deal. The seller does note that it was parked due to broken leaf spring bolts and some personal injuries. While that is not ideal, and there is no word if anything was repaired, it would not take much to get this car road worthy again.

Can’t imagine anyone replacing factory Vette wheels with those godawful things.

Not sure where the author sees a very good deal? You can get these running and driving with current plates for the asking price of.this one. I got a 79 myself.
If anyone is looking for any vette check out the forum for vette owners to see how much its really worth

Sawblades, digital dash, Nine Inch Nails sticker on the back…WHOA.
This thing was the hot ride back in 91. Check the carpet for pot seeds before rolling this ride down the highway.

Forget that. Just burn the old carpet in your fireplace.

A cracked differential cover at the spring mount was a very common problem with C3’s. If overtightened the bolt ears on the cover would break. I had to replace mine. Some knucklehead, (ok it was me) found out the hard way. Go easy on me, I could have said it was the PO, like everyone else.

You guys are a little tough on this one. $5800 for a C3 with an L82 that appears to need a good cleaning and a set of factory aluminum wheels isn’t horrible at all. Late C3’s may not be getting all the money YET…but you’re probably not going to lose money on this one either. And where are all these “turn key” C3’s for $5800? You may be thinking C4’s.
