EXCLUSIVE: 1966 Buick Skylark Wildcat 310 Convertible
Reader Heidi G has been tasked with helping the owner of this Buick Skylark Convertible project find a new owner. It has been parked for a number of years and is obviously going to need work, but it appears to be a great place to start. We will let Heidi tell you more about the car below!
What Makes It Special? This Buick was purchased locally in Milwaukee by an Air Force Captain with the intent of dropping in a 455. Due to health and financial reasons, the project never moved forward and it’s now time to move it along. They’ve asked me to help them find a new home for it. The vehicle is overall in good shape. Interior is clean. The convertible top is in great shape and wouldn’t require repairs. Owner is willing to throw in a partial 455 V8 and a Ford 302 H.O. for the asking price. It’s located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a $7,500 asking price and a clean title.
Body Condition: Good, with some minor surface rust and scratches. Discovered small rust holes near the rear wheel wells in the trunk.
Mechanical Condition: The owner was able to turn the engine over two years ago and claims that it needs points to run. Everything else – brakes, transmission and electrical were working last time the car was running. The car has been in the garage since being purchased.
While it would be awesome to install a 455 into this Skylark, we would get the Wildcat 310 going and go from there. Hopefully, it runs well enough that you could start enjoying it right away. It really could be a fun project and seems like a good deal when you consider it includes two engines. So take a closer look and message Heidi via the form below with any questions or offers!

For clarity, the Wildcat 310 was a 300-cid, 2-bbl V8, rated at 210hp/310lb-ft.
Gotta love Buick’s use of torque rating instead of cubic inches back in the day.
This is definately a project car and it’s hard to see its excact condition due to the dust. However I like; a lot. The ’66 is IMHO the best year Skylark ever, actually I’d claim it’s also the best GM design to come out in 66 only surpassed by the Riv!
Should the 455 be usable it seems to be a good deal at the price. Actually the 300cu engine would be a sufficient power plant for normal cruising.
I can only wish best of luck to the guy who takes it, I’d love to have it too
Wash it please… take new pics. That would help.
I would rather see it dirty ! A clean barn find looks like you are trying to hide something.
Just thinking there is a swag….as in at the beltline/door…..as new it was a good contender for some fun !
Swag? Are you referring to the damage near the drivers door front edge and wheel well dent? Removal of the door handle may indicate an opening issue as well.
About $2k over priced. One of my favorite years also, 67 had an edge though with a better grille design and nicer rear taillight panel. I’ve never heard anybody call these “Buick Skylark Wildcat 310.” It’s just a Skylark convertible with a Wildcat engine. With that body damage ahead of the driver’s door, one has to wonder what was run over, or under, this section of underbody? Is that what’s preventing the door from aligning with the opening? That, and no door handle/latch? Who would put a Ford 302 in this? No benefit to corporate originality. Goofy
One of my favorite Buicks from the 60’s. That 310 would be good for cruising and showing off that beautiful car. The 455 could be a heck of a lot of fun too.
i prefer the looks of the 66 over the 67 and i have owned both, the 455 would be agood choice over the old nailhead design engine thats original to this car ,would be real keen if i wasnt so far away
Here’s my 64 Riviera. Now I’ll be adding a Skylark as soon as I find a clean rust free 67 with factory 4 speed and a/c.God bless America
Convertible with pretty nice interior and a wildcat to boot!!! What’s not to like??? Seems like minimal rust and two motors with the sale!! Could be the buy of the month!!!
