EXCLUSIVE: 1978 Ford Bronco

It’s been a while since I’ve posted some of the vehicles for sale in my friend’s collection in Georgia, so I thought I’d start with one from the last round of updates I shared back in May. This 1978 Ford Bronco is a mostly stock example, a rarity these days considering how many Broncos and Blazers have been modified for off-road use. It sports a 400 V8 paired to a C6 automatic transmission. It is sold on a bill of sale only and located near Blue Ridge, Georgia.

What Makes It Special? As I mentioned, this Bronco was clearly used as someone’s daily driver before being retired to my friend’s property. In fact, the only modification I could spot was some aftermarket shocks, which really just looked like replacements for the OEM units. Inside, the interior is actually in decent condition, with an untorn bench seat and good door panels.

Body Condition: The body does have some rust. It is contained to the rear fenders and edges of the tailgate. In all honesty, I would either plan to find patch panels or cut good metal out of Bronco that’s had its drivetrain removed. It’s a straightforward repair but the pictures in the gallery will show you what I’m talking about. The tailgate is not past the point of saving.

Mechanical Condition: The 400-series V8 does not run at the moment but it does turn over freely. The Bronco came into my friend’s property as a running vehicle but has not been started in five years. There is no indication it has been parted or had significant components removed.

Obviously, this Bronco is a project vehicle. However, this is a simple truck to restore and one that you can use without going overboard (or go overboard and restore it completely and have an investment-grade vehicle on your hands.) Please use the contact form below to ask more questions or set up a time to check it out; the asking price is $2K OBRO.

  • Asking Price: $2,000 OBRO

I can see it already, super swampers, long travel rough country’s, and a 460 in place of the lowly 400, built for the off-road thrill crowd. These are cool.

Is it just me (?)…I find it odd that the proprietor of this yard can remember everything about the arrival of said vehicle, but nary a title in sight for all his yard treasures. In Georgia, as in Tennessee, I seem to recall a legit mechanics lien or salvage operation requires the title be present before the vehicle enters the inventory. Still, a once ubiquitous Bronco is quite hard to find in black with bright factory graphics and unmolested body shell. Best of luck.

I agree this seems strange no tilted or paper work.

These were picked over parked for a reason such as bad engine , transmission or not title obtainable due to bank liens.

My understanding is that vehicles 1985 or older do not require a title in GA.
