EXCLUSIVE: 1954 Cadillac Series 62
It might be a four-door, but this Cadillac 62 looks like a beautiful find that could be fun to have! Reader Paul L is moving out of state and unfortunately can’t bring this big Caddy with. It isn’t perfect, but it runs and drives nicely as is. He believes he is the car’s 3rd owner and has some documentation on the car’s past. With a $6,000 asking price, it seems like a good buy for any Series 62 fan! You can find it in San Francisco, California and Paul can be reached via the form below.
What Makes It Special? Complete California Car. Mostly original and unrestored. Nice chrome and stainless trim. Believed to be 3 owner car. Comes with some documentation.
Body Condition: Body is solid, but there is a little rust in corners of front fenders. Good floors and rockers, minor rust on drivers side front floorboard. Not bad in my honest opinion. All structures and mounts look good. Glass is nice, driver door glass is cracked. Windows go up and down with ease. All doors and hood shut nicely. No accidents from what I can see. One respray in unoriginal colors done decades ago. All original interior. Needs some love. Seats have vinyl covers over the original material.
Mechanical Condition: Mileage unknown, I’m sure odometer has rolled at least once. Reads 004906. Runs great, no oil leaks or smoke. Minor exhaust leak at the manifold on the front divers side. Needs gasket. the carb was rebuilt a couple of years ago. The transmission works and goes into gear but slips a little when shifting between first and second. Steers and brakes good. Good tires and new battery. Gauges, lights, wipers, horn work. Currently registered and insured. Moving out state. Can’t take her with us.
While the color change is a bit of a bummer, this Caddy looks like a decent driver overall. Personally, I’d want to return it to its original color, but I’m a fan of unique colors on cars like this. So, what do you think of this Cadillac? Would you enjoy cruising around town in it? If so, make Paul an offer!

Nice old Caddy Paul, would love to make
‘er mine, but I’m tapped out. What color
was she originally? I’d repaint her in the
original color she was born with after I
took care of the rust. Here in Florida,
the salt air will rust a car to pieces in
no time flat. If she were mine, I’d use her
as a second car til we could get the truck
back on the road. Add some wide whites,
and some wire rims and poof! instant
knockout! And, I’d let my SIL drive it from
time to time just to show her how good a
Cadillac can be. With this car, I would get
many dates as my niece put me on POF
not long ago. Good luck with your sale,
nice car too!
Uh, Ken- not to be be nitpicker here, but cars are built, Humans are born. You never struck me as the kind of guy who uses millennial yuppie Phrases like this. Makes this ol grey hair nuts.
All in jest.
Cheers

I don’t know about Ken but I’m plenty long in the tooth and have used “born with” for maybe decades to describe how the vehicle left the factory…
Damn, did this ever come at the wrong time in my life! I’ve wanted a Caddy like this for over 30 years. It shouldn’t last long at this price…AC would have been nice, but for $6k, who’s complaining?
Best Buy of the week on barn find!! The color change is a bummer since they neglected to do the door jams and most likely under the hood and trunk!! But still a great buy for a car like this!!!
Really nice car and such a good deal. If I had room I would bring her home today.
Sorry Charles, guess I’ve been hanging
around the young folks a bit too much.
Still would like to know just what color
she left the factory with. That green paint
just doesn’t seem to fit the image of this
car. As for POF, Sis has been trying to get
me to meet someone since my wife passed away 16 years ago. Seems that
she and my niece are trying to o get me
married off for some reason. Thought
maybe the car might help. Great cruiser
for oldtown though.
Ken,
It seems to have been a blue color before turning green. Check the pictures where the doors are standing open.
Lots of Blather.
What size is the engine ?
Nice ’54 Caddy! My dad had one that was pwdr blue w/wht top.Great car!
The inside door color was wonderful unlike that green it was repainted with…nice car.
Del, these cars were equipped with a 331
CID V-8 mated to a 4-speed Hydra Matic
They were smooth, powerful cars that
ran tirelessly down the road sipping
very little gas. Hope that clears things up
for you.
A Caddy with no radio. That’s unusual!
I’m a big fan of green cars but as the repaint wasn’t done fully with jambs etc I think it best to go back to the original color. Otherwise this seems like a solid deal.
Back in 1971 My friend in high school bought a black 1955 Cadillac Sedan de Ville from an old lady who’s husband died and she couldn’t drive. He paid $100. The car was in great shape. He worked at Martin Cadillac in Santa Monica part time after school as a porter. A 1969 Cadillac Sedan de Ville had been towed to the dealership after it had been rear ended and crushed almost to the front seat. Obviously totaled he was able to pull the 472 engine and transmission from the 69 and we installed it in his 55 in high school auto shop. As I remember it went in pretty easy and drove so smoothly with great power! Fuel economy was pretty poor though.
Beautiful car………..
The 1st price ever on here that did not make me laugh.
