Man, this thing is rough,,but,,it’s a pretty good rendition of a Scout, still better than anything in Wis. and I believe 1980 was the last of the Mohicans. I’ve heard some good things about the diesel, not for me, however, an AMC 6 would be better. 0 comments to me, means, little, if any interest, and maybe if I hold out long enough, I’ll be able to buy a nice one. I think this one is too far gone, sadly, except for a plow beater up north, if you get the diesel smoking, that is, and what’s with the shift lever? That’s some fancy welding there,,,
Yep Howard, last of the line in 1980. Diesels are nice, but this little Nissan trying to move the bulk of a Scout isn’t going to get you anywhere fast, even with the turbo. Even so, fairly desirable if it runs, if just for the driveline. Not so much if it doesn’t. On the plus side, it should have a Dana 300 transfer case and improved caster Dana 44 axles.
Scout prices have been running much higher the last few years, so good luck to the seller. I hope it finds a good home.
I bought one for I think $300 about 25 years ago. I used it to plow snow, clear brush in the forest ( I called it the scoutdozer!) I stood on the hood and roof for scaffolding when building my garage….I used to tell myself ” some day your going to see these at car shows and for sale in magazines and your going to be shocked at what people want for them” ……yep!, I’m shocked!!
“Motor is bad. Everything else runs and works good. Transmission is good. Brakes are bad.”
OK. What else is there to run other than the motor? Works good, brakes are bad. Not much to justify 3k that I can find in the ad.
