EXCLUSIVE: 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon
There’s just something super cool about these ’90s Buick Roadmaster wagons! It’s a flashback to the classic family hauler but with modern comforts and an LT1 V8. Reader Jim C is the 3rd owners of this Roadmaster and has done a fair amount of work to it to make sure it’s a great cruiser. If you’d love to have one of these fast wagons, be sure to take a closer look. You can find it in Georgetown, South Carolina with 69k miles on the odometer, an $8,400 asking price and you can contact Jim via the form below.
While the Roadmaster’s LT1 is an important part of the formula, it’s really the interior that makes this one stand out over the typical family wagon. Just look at those overstuffed leather seats! And to keep the ride smooth, even when towing, it’s also equipped with self-leveling suspension. And just to be clear, this car is equipped with the tow package, so you can tow your boat, small camper or even another car behind it.
The 260 horsepower LT1 V8 in this wagon is equipped with sequential port fuel injection and the new for 1996 OBD-II port. Having the tow package means that this car is equipped with suspension upgrades, a 2.93 rear end, a limited-slip differential and heavy-duty cooling for the engine and transmission. Unfortunately, the transmission cooler clogged up damaging the 4L60E. Thankfully, Jim has already had it rebuilt to get it back on the road.
Jim notes that the car has a few scratches and one small piece of trim is missing (photos of both issues can be seen in the gallery below), but it is otherwise in excellent shape. The air conditioning blows cold, the Vista roof glass and windows are all in good shape and the brakes have recently been done. It’s said to run great with smooth shifts from the fresh transmission and new transmission cooler. He has a clean Carfax and the title in hand. It’s getting harder and harder to find nice examples like this one, so don’t let this one get away!

Really nice car and a ‘96 Roadmaster is the one to have if you love these blobby boats (had a ‘92 Caprice wagon, loved it).
Good luck with the sale. These were the end of an era.
Delete the woodgrain, put an Impala front end on it, clone it as a SS wagon.
I love it. Moving from Redmond, WA to NC….
Ha,
There is one of those outside my apartment, that a gentleman uses for is daily driver….has fabric top also……must say…a neat guy….
I had a ’95 Estate wagon, same color. All good trim, No dents, 105,000 miles, California car, Sold on Craigslist 3+ years ago for $5,000. This one also looks like the tailgate is dented.
Great cars. They could be classics in the future.
Unless it has aluminum heads it is not quite an LT-1 , yep the same basic motor except for the different head material, Still a very strong runner as long as the opti-spark is kept dry.
