EXCLUSIVE: Rust Free 1971 Ford Bronco Survivor
What Makes It Special? We purchased this car 3 years ago from our neighbor who is 98 now. He bought the truck new and used it exclusively for fly fishing trips around Washington State and British Columbia. It was buried in his garage for 25 years until we got it. We have replaced the gas tank, fuel pump, carburetor, distributor, timing chain, battery, tires, windshield, did a complete tune-up and rebuilt the seats. It is a rust-free truck and other than what we have done to make it driveable, bone stock original.
Body Condition: Because this is a Washington state vehicle, and was used relatively infrequently, it is absolutely rust free. The paint is original, and the interior untouched, except for rebuilt seats. There is a shallow dent in the hood that is about 3 inches in diameter, otherwise, the body is perfectly straight. The paint on the interior roof above the driver and passenger is peeling and needs to be redone.
Mechanical Condition: It’s equipped with the 302 V8 and it runs great. Manual steering and brakes. 3-speed column shift. Probably original clutch that will need replacement eventually.
You don’t come across early Broncos in this nice of original condition often, especially ones without serious rust issues. $25k is a lot of money, but these are starting to go for big bucks, making Jerry M’s a really good buy if is as original and solid as he claims! Nice!
Those cut quarter panels negate the “bone stock original” claim.
Surely the mileage claim can’t be right
160K was owners guess. Found service records. Actual mileage is
101,749.
Like it very much, though I’m not in the market for any EB as I’m not prepared to spade out 25K for any vintage vehicle.
Given the original owner apparently is still alive and kicking it offers some great opportunity to not only verify the background, but also tell other details or trivia about the Bronco’s life.
Man ,that guy must have done a lot of fly fishing
It’s really hard to find one of these in this good condition aside from the cut rear wheel area and the installed flares!! Right down to the original hubcaps!! Should it warrant 25 large I wouldn’t think so!! However the popularity of these is still crazy!! Considering a international scout or an early CJ jeep can be had in good shape for about half that price!!
