This 1979 Camaro Z/28 resided with the same family until the current owner purchased it. While it’s received some touchups over the years, it looks to be in nice condition. The seller has enjoyed it, but they’ve decided it’s time to find a new home for it where it will be enjoyed and preserved. The seller is offering it here as a Barn Finds Auction, and the car is located in Hales Corners, Wisconsin.
When the original owner of this Camaro passed away over 20 years ago, they left it to their brother-in-law, who took good care of it. They added a few bolt-on upgrades to give the engine a little more power, but the original parts were retained so that it could be put back to original. Its white paint with gold and brown stripes isn’t the most exciting combination, but it looks good, and white paint tends to hold up well. The seller notes that the paint has been touched up in a few spots but presents nicely. A few small blemishes are showing on the front bumper. When new, it was treated to Ziebart rustproofing. The car is said to be rust-free and that the doors don’t sag.
The interior looks to be in nice condition throughout. The seat upholstery appears to be the optional Custom Knit Cloth. There aren’t any signs of excessive wear, which would help back up the mileage shown on the odometer. The dash and other plastic components also look in great condition. An oil gauge has been added to the bottom of the dash and shows a healthy amount of pressure at idle. There doesn’t appear to be any needs here other than to put the floor mats back down, which are currently in the trunk of the car with the t-top bags.
As you can see, the engine has received a few upgrades. The intake manifold, carburetor, and exhaust manifolds have been replaced with higher-performance components. The parts that were removed, including the emission control devices, were retained and are with the car, the only exception being the air cleaner. The original owner’s brother-in-law told the seller that the engine is good for about 300 horsepower, so some internal work may have been done as well, but there aren’t any receipts. The engine is said to run well, and the car drives great.
This looks like a very nice find that has been cared for and enjoyed throughout its life. It presents nicely but isn’t so perfect that you would be afraid to drive it. The performance upgrades paired with the 4-speed manual will make for a thrilling experience. The owners manual and new car delivery documents come with the car. So, if you’d love to have this Z/28, be sure to cast your high bid below, and if you have any questions for the seller, leave them in the comments!

Nice car. More info on the engine upgrades would be great, but hey it looks great.
I got a chuckle out of the crappy vintage head unit. “Royal Sound” lol. Very period-appropriate.
Even if its 225-250hp this’ll be a very fun driver. Love the colors. Nice inside too.
