BF AUCTION: 1971 Dodge Challenger 340
This Challenger is the second in the triple barn find that we just announced. It’s exciting to be able to offer these as exclusive Barn Finds Auctions, so please take a closer look and bid below if you’re interested.
As previously mentioned, this Mopar was part of a trio that had been parked since the ’90s. The owner was a serious fanatic and loved these cars very much. They did require some work to make roadworthy again but, as you can see in the photos, they were great finds!
This Challenger has a 340 V8 and an automatic transmission under the hood. A big block would have been nice to have, but the 340 is no slouch. It’s cheaper and can be souped easily (if this one hasn’t been already). The previous owner did like to hot rod things so I wouldn’t be surprised if it has a few surprises up its sleeve. Bonus features include air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes.
Check out the plaid interior! That almost makes up for the lack of big-block power. The Hemi Orange paint with this upholstery really make it stand out. Don’t buy this car if you don’t like people because it is sure to draw a crowd everywhere it goes.
The exterior has been resprayed at some point and it’s not a show car. After a thorough detail and lots of mechanical refurbishment, this Challenger appears to be an excellent driver-quality muscle car. Be sure to check out the photo gallery here, leave your questions in the comments, and place your bids below!

I’d rather have one with the 340 over the 383 any day .
I like the t/a rear spoiler. Never did like the go-wing.
I used to have a pair of pants that matched the seats back in the day.
Help me out….what is the actual story with these cars? What is the Fast/Loud connection; why didn’t Rawlings flip these at some big auction; and why did these cars end up with the save a muscle car guys, and now for sale on BF??. I didn’t get the full story, and I’d be interested in what the full story is.
Transparency, that’s what I’m asking.
@Rex Kahrs – Watch the video on the 383: https://barnfinds.com/bf-auction-1971-dodge-challenger-r-t-383/
The guys from Restore A Muscle Car ended up with the cars and they came to us to auction them. We receive over 5 million page views per month so we have as much or more coverage as the “big auctions”.
That’s a lot of page views! We are running several at Mecum in Kissimmee in January. We should try some of our units on here!
Good point Jessie, you have more coverage than Barrett Jackson but they have you beat on “Big buck clowns with more money than brains.” Your readers usually seem to have a good handle on what stuff is worth. I go to B/J every once in a while just to watch the circus, even spend money for a bidder’s badge so I can sit up front.
I even started to bid on John Staluppi’s Willys wagon in Palm Beach when the bidding stalled at around $18K. Right as I was about to bid it took off and ended up over $50K. I have video evidence that I was on the stage, but I never bid on anything.
I bid 20 grand on it. What do you guys think it’s going to go for?
35k ?
@Brad G – I think you are about right, but we will see where it goes.
340 is a funner engine than a big station wagon engine. Lighter and loves to rev. Stick shift would make it even better
Awesome looking car! I hope whoever buys the Challenger enjoys it. 🙂
With less than 24 hours to go the seller has lowered their reserve so be sure to place your bids before time runs out!
Only one hour to go!
Did it sell?
It didn’t, but we are going to be launching a system to make an offer after an auction if the reserve was not met.
Did that car sell???
