With life proceeding at a frantic pace, there is nothing wrong with sitting back to enjoy the finer things in life. This 1964 Cadillac Sedan DeVille offers that opportunity. It is a tidy and clean survivor that a new owner can enjoy immediately. The current owner purchased this gentle giant as a wedding car and has also seen service in the Nantucket Daffodil Parade. However, she has discovered the vehicle is too big for her current location. Therefore, she has listed the Caddy with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

Cadillac’s Second Generation DeVille range graced showroom floors from 1961 until 1964. Our feature car is a 4-door Sedan DeVille Hardtop, a popular choice in 1964. The company produced 110,396 examples of the DeVille across all body styles, with 39,674 buyers selecting the 4-window Sedan variant. Its presentation is impressive, with the owner confirming it received a repaint in Aspen White at some point. It holds a beautiful shine, and the close-up shot of the prone front sheet metal reveals no significant chips or marks. The body is as straight as an arrow, and the gaps are tight and consistent. One noteworthy feature is the fender skirts, which accentuate the Cadillac’s low and sleek lines. There is no evidence of rust, and the lack of visible surface corrosion in the trunk and engine bay is reassuring. Its cause has been helped by the owner’s decision to store it indoors when it isn’t patrolling the streets. The trim is immaculate, and the tinted glass is flawless. This Caddy might be sixty years old, but it would undoubtedly command more attention today than it would have when it was new.

Cadillac earned a reputation for powering its cars with potent engines in the 1950s and 1960s, and this Sedan DeVille is no exception. Lifting the hood reveals a 429ci V8, producing 340hp and 480 ft/lbs of torque. Big news for 1964 buyers was the adoption of the new three-speed TH-400 automatic transmission. Given this car’s luxury credentials, the power assistance for the steering and brakes is unsurprising. The Sedan DeVille might tip the scales at 4,773 lbs, but its outright performance is surprising, and its ability to cruise all day at 70mph while cocooning its occupants is legendary. Potential buyers should consider this gem a turnkey proposition. The owner states that riding inside this classic is like floating on a cloud, one of the hallmarks of Cadillacs from this era.

The Sedan DeVille is unquestionably a luxury car. Therefore, the new owner will enjoy features like air conditioning, power windows, a power seat, an AM radio, and upholstered surfaces wearing leather and cloth. The owner confirms the A/C requires attention, although the remaining items work as they should. She replaced the front seat cover around six years ago, but the remaining trim is original. The leather would benefit from a high-quality conditioner, and the carpet needs a deep cleaning, but the winning bidder can perform those tasks for a few dollars. It is worth noting that the dashpad hasn’t succumbed to UV exposure. Replacements are a big-ticket item, and this pristine state is a major victory. Therefore, this interior should take more time than money to shine like a new penny.

Classic cars come in all shapes and sizes, and there is always something to appeal to any taste. This 1964 Cadillac Sedan DeVille is ideal for someone wishing to enjoy a quiet and relaxing motoring experience. Its four doors and vast interior make it a practical alternative for an enthusiast with a growing family. It has no immediate needs, allowing the winning bidder to slip behind the wheel and drive off into the sunset. If your heart’s desire is to live at a more relaxed pace, bidding on this Sedan DeVille could be the first step to making that happen.

I had almost this exact car in high school(’74-’75). Except mine was a silver blue with same interior and same options. It was in almost as good of condition as this one, paid $385 dollars for it. Back then it was a 10 year old Caddie nobody really wanted. Definitely one I should have kept, but if I kept all of the cars I should have I wouldn’t have any place to put them.

Wow, never thought of a 64 DeVille being “almost exactly” like a 74-75 DeVille. With the exception of both models having skirts I don’t see those particular models being “almost exact” Just to mention as well the 74 had the traditional round headlights as the 75 had the new for the 70’s rectangular headlights.

It was in 1974 (when I was in high school) that I bought my 1964 DeVille.

If the owner replaced the front seat covers six years ago, it must have been a rough six years. The dye has worn off the top of the seat back, and the leather has more wear than expected.

You are right!! It was the back seat that was replaced, not the front!!! Sorry for the confusion!

Beautiful looking Cadillac. 1962 and 1964 are my favourite years for the car. It’s always awesome to see an original survivor that’s been cared for throughout its life.

Dad was a Cadillac Man. He owned two ‘64s. A Sedan deVille and a Fleetwood. Both 429/4 speed Hydramatic. Cadillac called it City/Country Drive. (There’s a lot of “info” floating around on the Interweb about the transmission(s) used in these cars. Half of it is wrong- good luck figuring out which half). The Sedan deVille had 472 heads and two mufflers- the two resonators were removed. I was in high school at the time, and let me just say that car surprised a lot of people…
I would love to own this car.

There once was a girl that I knew,
    she was from Nantucket.
I won’t say that her mouth was big,
but she slept with her false teeth
    in a bucket!

If only more pics were posted of the car, it would’ve been fun to see what the car looked like from every angle. IMHO, there’s no such thing as too many pictures.

Very optimistic asking price check Google for 1964 Cadillac in original mint condition they can be had for 24k, that’s original not a repaint or needing interior work most cads where treated with respect and garage kept a good starting place for restoration
