BF Auction: 1963 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
There is no doubt that the automotive world is turning its attention to smaller and more efficient vehicles. However, that provides enthusiasts with the opportunity to buck the trend and buy a classic that provides space, luxury, and a genuine presence. This 1963 Cadillac Coupe DeVille comfortably ticks those boxes, but it is more than a pretty face. The current owner has invested a considerable sum of money into this classic over more than a decade. It isn’t perfect, but it is one of the nicest examples you will find in the current market. He feels the time has come for the Caddy to find a new home and a buyer able to benefit from his unceasing efforts. Therefore, he has listed the Coupe DeVille exclusively with us at Barn Finds Auctions. We ran this one previously, but the seller was unable to take more photos at the time, so they were finally able to take and send more photos!
We don’t have to go far to spot the first area of this Cadillac that received the owner’s attention. He treated it to a professional repaint in its original shade of Frost Gold in 2014, having replaced the White vinyl top the previous year. As a result, this classic presents beautifully. The owner admits it isn’t perfect, but there’s not much to criticize about this car’s presentation. The paint holds a deep shine, and any imperfections are too small to show in the supplied photos. The panels are as straight as an arrow, and potential buyers don’t have to worry about rust. This Caddy has always been garage-kept and is as solid as the day it rolled off the line. Dust and water leaks shouldn’t be a problem because the owner replaced the door seals, roof rail seals, and window felts. The chrome and glass are spotless, with the original hubcaps and narrow whitewalls adding the perfect finishing touch to the exterior.
The spending spree didn’t end with this Coupe DeVille’s exterior because the owner splashed plenty of cash below the surface. The engine bay houses a 390ci V8 that was new in 2001. It set him back over $2,700 more than two decades ago, demonstrating his passion for this classic. A new carburetor went on in 2012, and the car was converted to electronic ignition in 2019. That means the glorious V8 will deliver its 304hp and 404 ft/lbs of torque. It feeds that power to the road via a four-speed automatic transmission, with power assistance for the steering and brakes, making light work of the driving experience. We’ve only scratched the surface with this Cadillac because other work included a starter motor rebuild, a new fuel sender, a new temperature gauge sender, and new tires in 2020. This gem runs and drives perfectly, making it a turnkey proposition needing nothing but a new owner.
This Cadillac is nothing if not consistent because its interior presents beautifully courtesy of more TLC and spent greenbacks. It received a refresh in 2013, with the cloth inserts in the seats and door trims replaced, and new carpet laid on the floors, the lower door trims, and the kick panels. The result is stunning, and no doubt the interior condition will help this car turn heads. There is no visible wear or signs of abuse, and none of the dreaded aftermarket additions that could spoil the purity of this interior. A life stored in a garage when not cruising our streets means it has avoided the ravages of harsh UV rays that can take a toll on items like the dash pad. A luxury car deserves ice-cold air conditioning, and this Caddy doesn’t disappoint. It also features power windows, a remote driver’s mirror, an electric clock, a tilt wheel, and an AM/FM radio.
Hybrid and zero-emission vehicles are an emerging part of the automotive landscape, and it seems inevitable that they will dominate the market in the coming decades. Those cars will become increasingly more efficient and contribute nothing to global warming. The harsh reality is that the day will probably come when you can no longer walk into a dealership and buy a car with an internal combustion engine. That makes this 1963 Cadillac Coupe DeVille an automotive dinosaur, but that is a good thing. Creatures like the Tyrannosaurus Rex died out because there was nobody to save them. However, plenty of enthusiasts will gladly raise their hands to save this Caddy. Will you submit a bid to ensure that happens?

My Dad had a ’64 Coupe deVille,& while not my “Cup of Tea”
I’ve always thought these were a piece of art,& great highway cruisers.
Now that’s a Caddy..
I don’t remember that color at all, but I like these cars. Quite the visual presence and a super comfortable ride
I had a 63 Cadillac S&S 3 way coach. Fresh out of service the engine was a dog. It took several thousand miles for that 390 to wake up. Once it did, it was formidable, it would top the high passes of Colorado at 80+ and cruise at 110 out on the plains. It stuck out of my garage just over 50″.
I don’t know this color either, but it might be the photography. My ‘64 convertible is a gold color and maybe that’s what this is.
Under the trunk lid is a like gold color and in the door jams
What they don’t tell you is that these Caddies are about 22 feet long bumper-to-bumper so you’d need a very large garage or a warehouse to park it indoors overwinter.
Nice car, but too large for most nominally sized attached garages.
Bob
Just need a house with a garage that was built before the age of the japanese jellybeans
I had one just like it in the 80’s. Wish I could afford this one. A beauty.
Hope they put high bidder & seller together.
Maybe they can still get a deal done. Hard to say without knowing the reserve. Might just be to far apart.
Nice Caddy!!!!
Nice car! The colors remind me of Goetze’s Caramel Creams.
Yes, very interesting color. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a Caddy in this color.
Beautiful car, though, in great shape.
Picture #14 shows the courtesy light just hanging there. That will need to be fixed, other than that, I can’t find anything wrong with this Cadillac.
“If I only had a brain”
Error, money.
I love old Caddy’s ,the only thing I could nit pick on this beautiful girl, is I just wish it had leather interior. That being said, she’s beautiful and probably floats down the road like a dream.
For sure this was when Cadillac was the standard of the world! I think the 1969 & 1970 years were the absolute pinnacle but that’s my opinion.
Wait….I am confused. Wasn’t this auctioned off a while ago? I will confess to participating in a custom commonly referred to as “happy hour,” so I very likely missed a logical explanation. I blame the folks who produce grey goose vodka.
That thing is as long as my 93 F150 if its not longer it has a bigger and more powerful engine but man what a ride, there is more to life than gas mileage this thing would be like riding on a cloud
I knew a car salesman that had a black Coupe DeVille and when that car hit the highway, EVERYBODY got out of it’s way in a hurry!! That was one car that was a battleship on wheels, you didn’t dare get into a collision with it! LOL
With all that money and time he’s spent I’m really surprised he didn’t take more time to detail out the engine compartment better. Overall though, nice car.
My first car was a ‘64 Coupe deVille. Nowhere near as nice as this one though. Great highway cruiser.
