BF Exclusive: 1979 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed

Best OfferMake Offer

Classic Pickups continue to perform well in the current market, and eager enthusiasts can snap up the right examples quickly. This 1979 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed ticks the boxes most people would find desirable. It is a recently completed project build that presents beautifully. The drivetrain combination is as bulletproof as they come, and its rust-free status and lack of prior abuse mean it should serve a new owner for many years. The seller feels the time is right for it to find a new home, so he has listed it with us exclusively at Barn Finds.

The previous owner commenced the restoration of this former North Carolina C10 around fourteen years ago, but declining health meant the project sat uncompleted until the current owner purchased the vehicle and transported it to its current location in New Jersey. He completed the tasks that proved beyond the previous owner, and the result is a Pickup that presents superbly. Its Red paint shines beautifully, reflecting its surroundings like a mirror. It cloaks laser straight panels without bumps, bruises, or other defects. Carefully examining the supplied photos confirms this C10’s underside is as clean as you could hope to find on any classic of this vintage. The bed is perfect, with the seller believing it has never seen a load. The chrome and glass are both in good condition, with the lowered stance and immaculate Rally wheels giving this Chevy a sense of purpose. However, this gem’s drivetrain combination should offer satisfying performance and bulletproof reliability that match its good looks.

Buyers faced a broad selection of engines to power their new 1979 C10. This Pickup’s original owner selected the V6 option, but at some point, it was upgraded to the 350 cui V8 that’s currently under the hood. They backed this with a three-speed Turbo 350 transmission and a 12-bolt rear end. Power assistance for the steering and front disc brakes should make driving effortless. The stock, numbers-matching engine would have produced 130hp, but this V8 would offer a few more ponies than that. Improved breathing can significantly affect these engines, and the long-tube headers and dual exhaust will undoubtedly help performance even more. They should also make this Pickup sound pretty nice, which is never bad! It is worth noting that the 350’s torque peaks below 2,000rpm, making these classics effortless load carriers. The engine bay presents as impressively as the rest of the vehicle and doesn’t flatter to deceive. The vehicle is in excellent mechanical health and is ready to head into the sunset with a new owner behind the wheel.

The theme of impressive presentation continues when we open the doors and examine this C10’s interior. The color combination of Red and Black trim complements the exterior paint shade, and its condition would not cause the new owner any shame when seen out in public. The seat wears a cover in Red cloth and vinyl that should be extremely comfortable. There is no evidence of wear or other issues, with the same true of the remaining interior trim. The pad is crack-free, no plastic has succumbed to age or UV rays, and the gauges feature clear lenses and crisp markings. The overall impression is that it would undoubtedly receive positive comments on the street or at a Cars & Coffee.

This 1979 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed is a stunning vehicle, with every aspect of its presentation appearing immaculate. The mechanical components are as tough as nails, ensuring the vehicle faithfully serves its new owner. Some enthusiasts don’t have the time, facilities, or skills to undertake a project build. The only alternative for them is to buy a turnkey classic. That is the experience offered by this Short Bed, and recent sales history suggests they will be slipping behind the wheel of a Pickup that is an appreciating asset. Those factors combine to make this beauty worth serious consideration.

That has to be one of the finest trucks I’ve seen anywhere. Everything just right.

The tune that is going through my head (sadly) is “Ruby, don’t take your love to town”. I believe it was Kenny Rodgers that brought that song to light. I hope that the buyer of this truck leaves it exactly as-is. It is perfection straight from my dreams as a 16 year old with more money than sense. I could have damaged this truck heavily in more ways then one…

I had a 79 C10 SB, sunflower yellow and white. Rubber floors, no headliner. AM radio, 305 2 barrel. Wing vent window air. Bought it for $1500 in 1999 and sold it 5 years later for $3500. Dumb move. Should have kept it. NC farm truck. 15000 miles. Grrr

Wow. This is amazing. Great year, I always gravitated towards the pre 1980 noses. Also, I always liked the way the two tone paint jobs were done on the sides. They really built this truck right. Looks like it will last many trouble free years Im sure. Hope it goes to a great new home.

I said the same thing. For 22g A/C should be in that truck, even an after market type blowing cold air. Its immaculate otherwise.

I bought a 1978 Chevy short box brand new.
    350 – 4 barell automatic.
It was dark brown and looked terrific.
I owned it for close to 10 years and sold it to a roofer for $500.
The body was very rusty, but you could not kill that 350!
Started every time and ran great.
This one here is really nice.

If only it were a different color and if it had A/C. But at $22K, it’s too expensive for a color change and A/C add. Plus, someone out there will love the red. It is a very nice trick. GLWTS.

Never saw the attraction, they rusted like there was no tomorrow, and the flimsy hoods folded like an envelope, previous gen was better in every way
