There aren’t many past times quite as American as land yachting. It takes long stretches of open land and roads wide enough to make way for a big luxury classic like this 1967 Cadillac DeVille Convertible. This land yacht has recently been extracted from the barn where it has spent the past 30 years. So, if you have been hunting for a land yacht to set sail in, this might be the find for you! It’s being offered here as a Barn Finds Exclusive, so be sure to make the seller an offer.

The seller admits that this Cadillac will need work to be ready for the wide-open road again. Rust shows on the doors and in the rocker panels, so a full restoration will likely be in order. Thankfully, these were exceptionally well-built cars with a dedicated following. Parts supply is surprisingly healthy, given the car’s hefty price tag when new. Cadillac built about 160k DeVilles in 1967, most of which were sedans. Only 18k convertibles were built, so finding convertible-specific parts might be challenging.

The interior is complete and in decent condition, given that it’s a convertible. All the major components are present and look as though they could be reused. The carpets might clean up, but replacements are available, and it might be easier just to replace them. There appears to be some body trim sitting inside the car, plus a box with more trim in the trunk. Trim parts are likely the most challenging and expensive items to replace on one of these, so having enough good pieces to put this back together is a huge bonus.

Moving all this luxury around takes a mighty engine, so Cadillac equipped these with its 340-horsepower 429 V8. The engine will need to be revived, but if it isn’t damaged internally, that shouldn’t be a monumental task. We’ve revived several of these Cadillacs over the years, and the massive hood opening makes for an easy-to-access engine bay.

This is one you will want to inspect or have inspected before making an offer, just so you know what all it’s going to need. Convertibles are hard to come by, so even if it needs a full restoration, it’s worth saving. Once completed, it will be a very comfortable cruiser to set sail in. So, take a closer look and make the seller an offer!

    This is a $2,500 car. Maybe. One in slightly better shape near me sold for $2K, and I have seen other similar projects sell during the past year at up to $4K (with extra parts).
    The car for sale here is rough, and rusty. I love saving old Cadillac convertibles (my most recent is a ’71 Eldo convertible), but this one needs Everything to be even a decent driver. There are lots of (much) better ones for sale in the same price range as this one. Sadly, this may end up a parts car.

    I am always leery of a car that has electric everything that has been sitting outside. The mice chew wires and tracking down shorts and replacing wires is a headache (as is installing a new harness) add a powertop to the equation and I’m out.

    What a good year Cadillac drop top. It may be a little pricey given it’s condition, but you’d be hard pressed to find another for anywhere near $2500. Sitting for this long the rats and mice have done a number on the wiring and rust has taken hold. I’d find one in better condition, but more than a parts car for sure.

      Dear Diva , Whatever you do , please don’t give BF the old heave-ho . I , like you , had a totally unsupportive father when it came to old Caddies – he made me scrap a running ’37 in 1960 and made me knock back a $25 1939 Limo the year before . So , I always like reading your comments and would not want to be deprived of your valued contributions to the forum.

        @Peter Storen

        Aww, thank you, Peter, I really appreciate your comment. I have no plans of “heave-hoing” BF although, there are times it’s really beginning to pi$s me off.
        No, I’m kinda like a bad penny, I keep showing up.
        As if BF doesn’t have enough problems (digitally) I’d like to see a chat forum where we can chat without having to comment on a specific car post/ad. I recently went to a local junkyard and was amazed at all the 60s and 70s cars they had. It was quite unusual for this “pick a part” yard. I took pictures of them but there’s no forum to post them on here.
        So, BF, as long as you need to hire some IT, maybe construct a chat Forum?

    most car collectors and insiders will advise you to buy one already restored. the odds are that collectively, it will cost you less than one like this.
