Barn Stored for Last 10 Years: 1973 Buick Centurion
I’ve often wondered why Buick discontinued the Wildcat after 1970 and replaced it with the Centurion. While the Wildcat was around for nine years, the Centurion only lasted three years. By 1973, it was the only Buick that offered a convertible, the Skylark and Lesabre convertibles were discontinued after 1972 (the Lesabre convertible would be back for two years after the Centurion was discontinued after 1973). Here is a 1973 Buick Centurion convertible for sale here on Craigslist in Eastern Pennsylvania. Thank for Barnfinds spotter and reader Ikey H. for bringing it to our attention.
The car has been barn stored for the last 10 years. It also received some body work several years ago. The car looks to be in great condition, but personally, I would want to replace the missing chrome rocker panels and chrome on the rear trunk lid and adjoining areas. The top is like new and works and has the top boot.
The interior seats appear to be in great condition, without any rips or tears. The dash has no cracks. The interior includes a saddle colored 60/40 split notchback seat with front center armrest, power driver’s seat, power windows, remote control outside mirror, and AM/FM radio.
The Buick has its original 455 cubic inch V-8 with 4 barrel carburetor and it runs nicely. The timing chain and the master cylinder have been replaced. The car will need some other maintenance items done. It has 122,000 miles. The price is $4,900 which seems to be reasonable considering the condition of the car. The seller says that is the price as is. If it takes a while to sell, he/she will have more work done and the price will reflect it. I’m drawn to this thing. Beautiful bodystyle, nice period colors and definitely not the first thing to come to someone’s mind when they hear “big block convertible.”

Nobody’s going to pressure anybody around here, but let me tell you the 1973 Buick Centurion convertible IS Stanley Kowalski. You can’t afford NOT to buy this car…
I had the small-block Olds version of this. The “scissor-top” X-folding mechanism is a problematic design, but otherwise these are excellent cars. Under $5k for a nice clean one is a no-brainer! Years of summer fun for pennies, if you have the space to keep it.

I used to drive a 72 Buick LeSabre 4 door with the 455. Gobs of torque, they run like tops. The car had room for 8 people. AC made ice cubes. Awesome road trip car.
I would love to have one of these but after looking at the CL photos it looks to me that the body panels just don’t line up. I would like to know what body work has been done to it. Accident maybe? This one needs to looked at very closely before dropping 5G’s

My parents had the same year and color car, back in the day. Took my drivers license test in it. Same brown and white, but a hardtop, with a white interior.
Thing was a torque monster. Great hiway cruiser. What a flashback.
My neighbor had one of these in red with a white interior at the same time I had a 71 Skylark Custom conv. Red w/black interior. The Centurion is the better cruiser for sure, just never looked as cool as the Skylark IMO. With that said, I would pay 5k for this thing all day.

I had one identical to this car back in the 80’s. It was sold to a gentleman in eastern PA. Now I’m wondering if this was my car. If so it’s been kept well.
