Barn Find 1951 Ford F1!
The ad for this 1951 Ford F1 says that it has been stored in a barn for decades. You can tell this truck worked pretty hard during its life and it will need a dedicated new owner to get it back on the road again. It can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $1,900 and the reserve hasn’t been met yet. Located in Murdock, Minnesota, this truck is a desirable short-box and should be a fun project. Thanks to T.J. for the tip on this truck, now see what it looks like after it has been pulled out of the barn and cleaned up a bit.
The truck has been pulled out and cleaned up, which is fine with me. There may be some circumstances where you’d want to keep the “barn dust” on the vehicle and take it to auction, but with the case of this ’51, it doesn’t hurt the value at all. In fact, it may help the value since potential customers can see the condition under the dirt.
As you can see the radiator has taken residence in the passenger compartment. The ad says the engine is pulled and is in the bed as you can see here. I’m guessing there was something catastrophic that happened to the engine and it was pulled to be repaired or replaced. Like many barn finds, time probably took over and the repairs never happened. The rest of the interior looks decent apart from the seat needing attention. There is also a hole in the driver’s side floor.
Overall, this truck doesn’t look too bad. It appears like it may have been two-tone red and white, which would be a pretty unique paint job for this year of truck. What do you think about this one?

Another ruffian. I’d be worried about the underbelly having sat on the dirt floor. Seems ripe for a SBF.. I’d upgrade the mill and mechanicals and leave the outside with a little sprucing up, possibly a single stage paint job. Wonder what the reserve is? Might be a one of one rear engine f-1? Good luck and happy motoring!
Cheers

Yeah, termites . . .
I can smell the mouse pee from here!
Hey Lamont, you dummy! What did you do to my truck?
I was thinking of that show the minute I saw this truck. LOL
This reminds me so much of a truck that a carpenter from Cutbank drove. My folks were building a cabin at the St. Mary Lake back in the early 60s. This carpenter that Dad hired out of Cutbank drove a ’51 Ford pickup very similar to this. One day he pulled up to the site and his rad started to spout steam. Water pump died. He worked for the day and since it was the weekend he hitched a ride back to his place from Dad. He came out with some parts to repair the truck on Monday morning but unfortunately, the cabin sites were on the reservation and anything that wasn’t bolted down and locked up got ripped off. The locals stripped a lot of parts off the truck and after a couple more weeks all that was left was the cab, the frame and the main cylinder block. Of course all Ollie (the carpenter) had to do was leave word at Woody’s wrecking yard in Cutbank that should a bunch of parts for a ’51 Ford pickup show up to let him know. They did and everything but the driveshaft showed up. I don’t know what eventually happened to the truck but Ollie hauled what was left of the truck home and it was gone.
Sadly, about 25 cabin sites were leased from the reservation. Some fancy cabins got built but because of theft and extortion, and just plain vandalism, all of the cabins disappeared. The ones that were narrow enough to be moved down the road were towed away and a couple that were way too wide got demolished. All in a period of maybe 8 years…
Reminds me of Sanford and son. Will be a fun project for someone providing the reserve price is realistic
First thing I saw was that aftermarket turn signal system, It’s seen better days. This old truck could be really cool since the engine has already been removed you’ve got your choice of drivetrain. For me I’d probably source a complete new chassis from a modern ford pickup at the local wrecking (oops recycling center) yard. Then put this cab and bed on the new rolling chassis complete with engine and transmission and modern brakes, wire the whole thing then enjoy.
God Bless america
In chicago. any thought of using the turn signal on any corner is an after thought! Harley rider with PM brake systems.
It’s red, I would paint Sanford & Son on the doors and drive it around.
No title, too bad.
This pickup has a pile of potential to be a cool ride as is or whatever the dream could be. These narrow cab sizes are the greatest to ride in and wear a tee shirt for the cruise.
finally something on this site that actually looks like a “Barn Find”
