Up for sale is this pretty awesome 1948 Chevrolet 3600 three quarter ton pickup truck. It is not a very common truck and the condition is a little rough, but it has incredible potential. The current bid price this truck is up to is $2,635 with no reserve. The truck currently calls Sweet Grass, Montana home. There are 98,134 miles on the odometer, a clear title, but the VIN is not listed. You can find it here on eBay.

Sadly the truck does not run or drive. The last time it was on the road was 1987. The seller does say it rolls and steers to move it around. It was probably quite a task getting it out into the field for the photos. According to the listing, the seller says the engine is a Stovebolt 6 cylinder engine connected a manual transmission. They do say the transmission shifts through the gears and the clutch works.

The seller says that while the interior is complete, it will need to be reupholstered and restored. That makes sense considering the photos. According to the listing, the seller says there is no crucial rust in the cowl or firewall which would be common for this truck. The dashboard looks great for its age and condition. There are a few cracks in the windshield but the split window is such a cool feature.

There are no photos of the underside of the truck, but based on the photos provided, it might not be that bad. This truck would be a perfect project truck. The seller has said they have tried to start the truck by hooking a battery to it, but the starter just spins. They do say the gauges all work. Hopefully someone will buy this truck and put it to great use. If its looks match its potential toughness, it should make a great ride.

At least this person in Sweetgrass prices their trucks reasonably. I’m surprised these vultures asking 5 figures for these, don’t buy this guy out, and add a zero to the price. I see this is one of the rare front drive models ( snow tires on the front), much more realistic price. I never like to gloat, but in this case, I will. I bet the buyers of those 5 figure AD’s feel pretty dumb now, and if their wives see this, and what they paid, even worse. Thanks for proving to negative Joes like me, there’s still hope.

What you said the other day, Rube, about learning to find your own deal plays out again here-the seller, “blackblack_cars”, knows where to go in Canada to buy trucks like these and bring ‘em back here to sell! Can’t fault the seller for flippin’ for extra cash but we’d all love to find some like these to fix up and drive ourselves so we don’t have to the pay 5 figures some folks get for a clean fixer-upper..

Up to $5,050.50 as of this writing! Too rich for my blood. A shame, as I’d really like to have this old beast. It even comes with a 1969 Saskatchewan license plate I could use as a wall decoration!

It just warms my heart lookin at it! That lead photo looks like it could be an illustration from a kid’s book about visiting Grampa on his farm :^)

Lovely looking truck. I don’t mind patina, as long as it doesn’t penetrate into the rest of the truck. And this truck looks like it had been parked inside.

I really have a warm fuzzy about this truck. Sure wish I could get it. But, bidding is up to $5.651.00, as of this writing. Quite a bit out of my price range. It wouldn’t be too hard for me to go and get it, as I have family in Cheyenne, Wyo., just the next state south. Plenty of open road driving…can make good time. However, no place to store it and work on it, plus money, plus getting older which reduces likelihood of crawling around underneath. And so the story goes…. I really hope the new owner treats this old girl with the respect she deserves.
