Collection of Hot 1960s Vintage Mopars!
If you’ve been wanting to get hold of a 1960s Plymouth or Dodge to drive or work on, the seller has not one but five of them for sale in Whitesboro, New York. They cover the 1962-64 period (except for one which may be from 1970) and many of them have been set up for racing since the seller is just half an hour away from the Syracuse racetrack. We’re not given the specifics on any of the cars, so we’ll have to go by what the photos depict.
1962 Plymouth Sport Fury – looks like the nicest and most complete of the bunch and could be turn-key. The body and red paint look good, and scoops are added to the hood in support of the 413 cubic inch V8 below. There’s a roll cage in the interior and wide street/racing wheels and tires on the back, so this one probably has some interesting stories to tell.
1962 Dodge Polara – this is the white car with red accents in the bottom half of the storage lift. It looks to be a stock automobile with no mods, but we really can’t tell. It may have been waiting for the owner to restore it or set it up for racing, too.
1964 Plymouth Fury – this is the black car sitting atop the ’62 Polara on the lift. It looks to have been kept covered and the rear wheels are the only sign that this might be a racer, as well.
1964 Dodge Polara – this is the yellow car with the black stripes on the hood. Since it, too, has hood scoops we’re betting there is something interesting under the hood that we wish we knew more about.
1970 Plymouth Duster – only a single photo hints that this is not a Sixties car but a Duster from the early 1970s, or perhaps a Dodge Demon. It’s purple in color and may be a work-in-progress car.
The bottom line: bring lots of cash and multiple trailers!

62 Fury, the best ugly Chrysler of all time. Wicked rare up here in the NE, 413 = extra cool. I’ve got some great stories involving this particular model. Hope they find a good home.
I don’t understand how Chrysler went from the coolest styled cars of the mid to late fifties to the ugliest cars of the early sixties and beyond. Just doesn’t make much sense.
Very true for the early 1960s, but the 68-70 Dodge Charger is one of the most beautiful cars built in America.
The 62’s were a love or hate it car but the 63 on were some of the best looking cars ever, imo.
I like the three pronged badge on the boot of the 64 Dodge Polara.

Dave that was the logo that Dodge used from 1962-81. It is affectionately call the “fratzog”.
the syracuse racetrack that you mentioned is not a race track but it’s the Syracuse Nationals at the NY State Fair grounds in July, 3 day event with over 6,000 cars!
There is a drag strip just on the north end of Syracuse in Cicero. I believe it is called ESTA Safety Park. Not sure if it’s in operation now but it was a few years ago.
There is esta raceway in cicero ny which is right next to Syracuse. Me and my best friend raced there many times with our 64 Plymouth fury. Then there was Utica Rome raceway back then a nice little 1/8th mile where they might have been raced on Saturday nights right next to Whitesboro. I loved Utica Rome raceway you could see the flames out of your headers at night.
I stopped and looked at this guys garage about 8-10 years ago. He is an old drag racer, mopar guy, and he doesn’t use tech like a rotary phone. I believe he cannot read. The yellow car is a lightweight, hand molded fiberglass with plexi windows…. well done as I recall….. He had a couple of old trailers out back and a lot of speed parts, engines, and transmissions all about the shop.
There was also an 1/8 mile track in Fulton NY
I don’t remember one in Fulton. But there was one in Fonda.
