Collector’s Edition: 1982 Chevrolet Corvette
The C3 Corvette seems to be a pretty hot commodity in the sports car market these days. The third-generation cars had a long lifespan, lasting from the 1968 model all the way through ’82, so there are plenty of them out there to choose from. And while the sixties and big block examples have been steady for a while, it seems the desirability of most Corvettes from this genre is steadily increasing, but at least for now, there are still some good deals to be found. The 1982 Chevrolet Corvette here on eBay is offered with no reserve, and at this time bidding has only reached $8,650, so perhaps this one will remain in the affordable range. It’s located up in New Baltimore, Michigan, if you’re wanting to go take a look.
This one is a bit special, as it’s the Collector’s Edition, a nicely-optioned package that pushed the Corvette over the $20k mark for the first time in the car’s history. It was also the first ‘Vette factory-equipped with a hatchback rear window and you also got a special color scheme inside and out, plus the car rode a special set of aluminum wheels, so it scored high in the looks department. The seller says this car has had two previous owners, with the original buyer keeping it for the first 37 years, and claims it has been well-kept throughout the decades. A new paint job was applied about 8 years ago, which is stated to still look nice and shine great.
Under the hood is the original 350 cubic-inch Cross Fire Injection V8, which is said to accelerate smoothly down the road. There’s no word on whether or not it’s ever had a rebuild, but with only 66,000 miles accumulated thus far, it probably hasn’t needed an overhaul yet. Things under the hood are looking orderly, and even the factory smog pump is still intact. The ’82 model was the first Corvette since 1955 you couldn’t get with a manual transmission, so an automatic takes care of the shifting duties.
Things inside are still looking pretty good too, with some minimal wear stated to be present on the driver’s seat. All of the gauges are working as are the lights, plus this one’s claimed to be nice and solid on the underside as well. 6,759 Collector’s Edition Corvettes were produced in 1982, so the car isn’t all that rare, but it’s still refreshing to see such an overall nice example in the marketplace. What are your thoughts on this one?

Seems to be an honest, entry level CE C3.
All the best to the new owner, should be a lot of fun keeping this one on the road, and one should be able to do it for reasonable money….
The new owner can sort a few items, as well, to bring it to the next level.
I like it! 👍🤓
The devils number on the speedometer. Could be a bad sign.
Very poor job on the seat reupholstery.
New seats – covers and foams, aren’t that expensive. Neither is a new steering wheel. Replace those, check all the rubbers on the t-top panels and replace as necessary and you’d have a nice cruiser. I loved mine. Bought it for the price this one currently sits and sold at a loss. C3’s are not quite a hot commodity yet. This one needs the correct color decals though – the aftermarket ones aren’t quite right. And the rear window needs checked for the CE “creep” from the hatch struts. Difficult to fix correctly..
Hard to tell from the photos but the graphics look to be off in color.
Also missing the pinstripe on all sides. not too bad tho’
A beautiful ‘vette! Looks well taken of. The new owner shouldn’t have too tough of a time redoing the seats.
Good luck to whoever buys this.
Wish it was me but I got too many irons on the fire now.
Cheers!
First time only available in auto trans. I don’t see this going for very much more
beautiful 💞!!$$
Not a fan of later Year C3’s, but I have always loved the looks of the 82 Collector like this one. Very classy look.
SOLD for $14,200.
