Cheap Turbo: 1984 Buick Riviera T-Type

While looks are important, oftentimes it is what is under the hood that counts most. This 1984 Buick Riviera T-Type might look like something Tyler Hoover would purchase, but for $2,250, you can buy yourself a factory turbocharged car. The seller says that the car has a clear title and there are 75,553 miles on the odometer. No VIN is listed. It is currently located in Cape Coral, Florida. Thank you, Roger, for the tip. You can take a closer look at it here on craigslist.

While it does not often get the attention it deserves due to the lack of a badge and some paint, these Buick Riviera’s have the same 3.8 liter V6 turbocharged that is found in the Grand National and Buick Regal Turbo. Sadly, the seller does not include any photos of the engine. All there is to go on is there word and a badge in the grill indicating that the car is in fact turbocharged. The car is subtle, that is for sure.

There is a fantastic photo of the interior, which is identical to that of its more popular siblings as well. The function over style three-prong steering wheel, the endless amount of square dials and vents, and wood accents all indicate Buick of the mid to late eighties. At least the seats don’t have floating seat belts and are at least mounted to a fixed point in the car. Doug Demuro might find the rear seats a bit cramped.

While there is certainly more information and photos needed, if you live close to this car and are interested, you should certainly go check it out to verify its authenticity. Let us know what you find. This car would almost be an impulse buy, and that is saying a lot because that is normally not how I operate. But, for the brand, the engine, the price, and the condition, it really is something that you can’t go too wrong with.

Daily Turismo featured this one when it was originally listed for $5,500…..thought this price was a scam but it’s apparently the same seller. For half the price it almost seems free.
