Chicken Coop: 2011 Chevrolet Caprice
This is likely a one-of-a-kind vehicle. A 2011 Chevrolet Caprice, which may have previously been in police service, with a large chicken head and feathers added for promotional purposes. The car is said to be in good running order and attracts attention wherever it goes. If you’re in the restaurant business, this might be a great PR vehicle for your use. Located in Cut Off, Louisiana, this Chevy is available here on Barn Finds Classifieds for $29,995.
If we have the proper handle on the car itself, it would be a Chevy Caprice PPV (Police Patrol Vehicle). They were rear-wheel-drive V8 cars built in Australia by GM subsidiary Holden for use as chase vehicles in the U.S. As we understand it, GM, as a rule, did not sell them directly to the public, except at the dealer level as demonstrator vehicles, excess unsold dealer inventory, and purchases for demonstration use by law enforcement upfitters and other related businesses. The cars were equipped with a 6.0-liter V8 engine or a 3.6-liter V6 depending on timing. This car has the tell-tale police searchlight.
The seller says the car is either a 2005 or 2011. We’ll go with the latter as the ’05 had a different body style. It has 81,000 miles on the odometer, runs well, and everything works as it should. It’s our understanding the chicken hardware started with another automobile and may have been used in a Honda advertising campaign in the 1990s.
More recently, this Chevy was chosen to carry the chicken gear for a local restaurant to deliver orders. No doubt their specialty was poultry, and I would place an order with the eatery if for no other reason than to see this car pull up in the driveway. An artist airbrushed the feathers and no doubt the other graphics on a one-off that may be special for more than one reason.

If you spend 30K for this, the yolk’s on you!
Eggs-actly!
No more wise ‘cracks’, please!
That’s not exactly chicken feed, for a LeMons car?
I can’t tell from the photo which engine this has. Might be the 8. If so, that’d make it fly the coop! Aero might be a bit suspect. If the 6, decently quick and well balanced. Fewer egg-shaped donuts on the pavement.
Love old cop cars. But usually they are a bit more conservatively refinished.
For this, 30K is a lot of scratch unless you own the local fried chicken restaurant and think it would be a business rooster. Eh, booster.
I always wondered what he drove.
Thanks – I was thinking the same thing.
I remember “Chickenman” well.
He’s everywhere! He’s everywhere!!!
I always thought cop cars were associated with a different animal.
Too many doors – should be a coop.
Way too much money for a parts car …
Bizarre yes. Way over priced. Oh yes! Parts car. NO. Take the chicken crap off, sell I for a quarter of the price and someone would have solid car.
Stupid beyond stupid. Why is this monstrosity on Barn Finds?
Because most of us have a sense of humor and like to laugh and not take the world so seriously.
I’m sure they will show more Mopar “junk” soon enough in order to keep you happy George.
I’m patriotic, but not THAT patriotic.
That car is one bad Mother Clucker!
“bawk!”
I guess it’s alright if u own a K F C

Wow, it’s the same head & feathers. Didn’t know there was enough of a market out there to make more than one.
I’d drive this, just for the shell of it.
I bet the chicks would dig it.
Firebirds, eat your heart out…
Is “dr” fauci the seller ?
The authors idea of “Chicken Coop” differs greatly from what I think of when I hear that term. Any other trucker knows what I mean,,,
I wonder if this car will run like a chicken with its head Cut Off.
Couldn’t get it to cross the road.
What the pluck!
That could be one of Clyde Torkle’s Chicken Pit cars. It was driven by Stroker Ace, the Fastest Chicken in the South…
Way back in my high school daze I had a after school job delivering “Chicken Delight”. Our delivery vehicle was a Rambler American , the square boxy one. It was painted Yellow & White and had a Chicken mounted on the roof that was about 4 feet tall and lit up when you turned the lights on at night. “DON’T COOK TONIGHT, CALL CHICKEN DELIGHT”
LOL moodier I remember Chicken Delight ads all over TV in north Jersey in the 60’s there was a franchise in Wayne
I remember those Chicken Delight ads and the Chickenman series, both on WKBW out of Buffalo.
Thankful for the golden days of AM radio
These cars are absolute nightmares to work on and find parts for…this is a few thousand dollar car, at best (after you strip the stupid chicken crap off of it). By the way, they were available with the V8 or the V6, it had nothing to do with “timing” (where do you guys come up with these inaccurate, goofy pieces of misinformation?) and, these cars were only imported to the US from 2011 to 2016 so…yeah.
My PPV is the easiest “chevy” that Ive ever worked on, probably because its really a Holden.
Parts are shared with the camaro and SS sedan. The only issue with the PPV is its DOD system which is common to other chevy models. Delete the DOD and reliability improves dramatically. Im at 200K miles on a 2016.
Your comment about these not being available to the general public is no doubt correct for the USA but they were very much made for the public in Australia. In Australia they were an up-market vehicle with luxury appointments and fancy interiors. They actually were used for transporting government politicians and other VIPs.
Even though they were exported to the States as police vehicles (without the luxuries) they were never used as such here.
Bet it just flys down the road
“The seller says the car is either a 2005 or 2011”. Amazing!
Also, on the same style, one could read : “The seller says the car has either 12000 miles or 234000 miles on it”, or, why not, the seller says the car has either been involved in a accident or never did”…and, since we are at it : the seller says the car is a either a Corvette or a Taurus.
This car is a 2011. Barn finds would not accept the 2011 in their system and that is why it is listed as a 2003. The miles are accurate. It is a detective car.
Detective car? Wow must have really been under cover!!
