Swan Song: 1990 Mercury Colony Park Survivor
It’s almost like the Mercury Colony Park and its Ford relative, the Country Squire retired a little early. While Chrysler was doing well with its minivan, Ford only offered the Aerostar truck-based van by the time these wagons retired after the 1991 model year. Yet within the Ford and Mercury family was a pair of great selling station wagons in the mid-size field, the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable. So when the senior Ford and Mercurys were restyled in 1992, the station wagon models were no longer available. Here is a 1990 Mercury Colony Park station wagon for sale here on eBay in Statesville, North Carolina.
The seller of this wagon even gives us some history of the Colony Park. It was offered by Mercury from 1957 to 1991, being distinguished from the other full-size Mercury wagons by its simulated wood grain paneling. This Colony Park was bought new by the original owner in March 1990 in Palmdale, California that drove it 54,000 miles until 2012 when it was traded on another vehicle. A second owner from Arizona only put 700 miles on the car and kept it garaged. The current owner bought it in 2014 and had it transported to North Carolina. It currently has about 55,200 miles.
If Lincoln had made a station wagon, this would be it. It is nearly as nice inside as that premium brand would be. Best of all, the interior is showing very little wear. The power windows all work, but some of them are a little sluggish. The power antenna for the radio is working fine, but the radio is not. The air conditioning is currently blowing cold air.
There is a picture of the engine in the ad, but I was not able to get the picture to pull in properly. In a three minute video of the car, we can see the engine and just how clean it is. Another video shows over 90 images of the car. It is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine. The car has a new battery, wipers, and alternator. Incidentally, that video looks almost like it could be a commercial for the Colony Park from 1990. The car is not perfect. There are minor dings on the wheel arches, a line in the vinyl on one side, a scratch in the header between the hood and grille, and a back door with some scratches. Still, this wagon appears to be in great shape and a new owner can’t be too disappointed. The bid is at $7,000 as of this writing. Have you been looking for a nice full-size Mercury station wagon? This could be it.

Griswolds family vacation mobile……LOL!
Minivans and SUVs are what killed these. Very sharp, wouldn’t mind having one of these last of a breeds.
How many plastic trees died to decorate this whale!
Remember my Colon Park story guys, makes every write up about these wagons that much more enjoyable………..
We had a 1982 Colony Park back in the day and it was a plush cruising demon. Kids loved riding in the back. Sold it to my brother in-law at 190k in the 1990’s and it is still there on the families property. Loved that car!
Nice wagon. Love these land yachts! Bidding at $8,015.00. Just not for me. Not enough engine and giddy-up for so much car. I already have one gas guzzler. Don’t need another. Hope it finds a good home.
I like this one a lot. The price isn’t attractive though, and IMO the Country Squire tail lights look nicer, minor thing though.
