All the Clichés: 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville
It’s time to step back, draw in a deep breath and laugh at the world. Barn Finds reader Michael referred this Caddy to us. I’ve read the ad more than once, and it puts a smile on my face every time. Located in Hollywood, California, and for sale here on Craigslist, this timeless classic can be yours for $60,000.
The seller is quite up-front about a few aspects of this car. He does state that the title is missing, but that he’s happy to write out a Bill of Sale in his uncle’s name because he’s dead so won’t mind. The seller also states that the car ran when parked in 1973, and that he feels that a battery and some fresh gas is all that is needed to “drive this baby cross-country.” He does warn that he is unsure of whether the windshield wipers are working, so the new owner should probably check these before setting off.
The seller explains that the car used to belong to his deceased Uncle Fred who is quoted to have said “there’s no better chick magnet than a ’59 Caddy.” The seller attributes this attraction to the fact that Fred had 9 children. Looking at the interior now it doesn’t appear to be in sparkling condition, but I’m sure that a deep clean will bring some life back to it.
So there it is. Your chance to get into a ’59 Caddy that will help you to stand out in the crowd. Do yourself a favor and go and read the ad. It’s worth the time. My only criticism is that the term “will buff out” is nowhere to be seen. Cheers and have a great day.

Is it worth pointing out that the car in the pics is a Sedan deVille, not a Coupe deVille?
No, probably not.
If it were a Coupe it would cost $100k…
I didn’t realize April Fools Day was here so soon.
Exactly
Love those custom bucket seats, now that’s ingenuity.
That’s what was left under all the padding.
Oh, brother!
Kevin R is right. It is a Sedan de Ville (4 doors)
It’s also missing my favorite Craigslist phrase, “A/C works. Just needs a charge.”
You prefer that to “ran when parked”?
“Panty Remover” ? Drop the microphone……
When they catch their panties on the rusty quarter whilst fleeing for their lives…
That’s a Cadillac crap-Deville
Great parody of what is becoming the typical Craigslist and eBay ad.
Steve R
60k, huh?
I think you’d see Elton John and Paul Lynde fighting over a woman first…
I can only laugh in disbelief.
Somehow I don’t think he is going to be swamped with offers!
I think that’s why it’s called Hollyweird…jeez! I needed a good laugh
Sorry, but where is the barn? I am out ;)
If only we could of seen a couple horses pulling this chariot then maybe 60 grand . I mean it’s like Cinderella made it to the balll and it changed back afterwards .
Granted it’s not an antique Harley or a 50s Porsche but maybe it can bring 2000 and a bale of weed for the new owner to sit in the luxary seats and stick a window air conditioner in the side window area and dream 😼👀🤗
The area in the photo looks like no field/tree/garden spot anywhere near Hollywood, or California for that matter. What concerns me is someone may be lured into offering positive cash if the story flies. As we all know, this Caddy is one of those cars that should have the seller paying someone to have it removed.
I think a 1000 readers should make him an offer with all the zeros left off. It is hard to say what it is really worth but $6 is closer to it than 60k
Barrett-Jackson can’t wait to get their hands on this baby.
Just give me a roll of duct tape and a 12 oz can of WD-40. And keep the car. I’m just out of duct tape and WD-40.
There are no tires to kick-I’m out!
I thing it is a typo error I believe he meant to say $600. However I feel that Old Fred was right about it being a chick magnet. Last year, I drove one of these around for the summer. It was a red convertible with white interior and $25.000. worth of re-chrome plating. The car was it was stunningly impressive. And, Old Fred was right, All the chicks loved it.
A cute puppy will produce the same result for $24,900 less… :)
Even if this was a 59 Eldorado rag top,it probably wouldn’t warrant a resto,
If They pay the buyer for removal,I could see getting it for some “core”parts/bumpers/trim..etc.These are beautiful when restored,
But it would have to be a very rare model, and a celebrity connection,
Before it could ever attain a price….1/2…of what they want…
“Free to a good home”…purchaser must love small critters,
and not have the dreaded “Rustagen”allergy. It was once
owned by the lady who did Liz Taylors hair and makeup.
“You won’t find another like it”.!..……That’s it get my check book….
….I’m all in on this one…LOL
According to the map, it’s parked at Hollywood and Vine.
I saw that.
No way. Totally built up and no sort of “open space” around like is seen in the ad.
I worked in a building at Hwood and Vine. There was an open parking lot next to Nick’s cafe. That was it. In the early 80s.
The way Hwood is building multi story mixed use buildings there, I doubt the parking lot still exists.
You guys don’t seem to appreciate the rare and sought after “kitchenette” interior.
Very funny ad, very funny comments! All I can say is WOW!
The seller is either pulling our legs, or is one of the most clueless people on the planet.
Otherwise known as a vintage car connoisseur…
………I’ve read this ad before, can’t remember when or where it was, but it was a joke then and a joke now.
No one said anything about those $60k taillights heh heh heh. Only needs new lenses. Buy one get one free.
I finally read his ad, no tire kickers or joy riders ??? The tires are either gone or flat since the cinder block is holding up the rear and who in their right mind would joy ride in those poor excuse for seats and that EPA waste site of a interior. He says with a little elbow grease it should clean up, then if it’s so sentimental why have you not done it. This seller is definitely on CRACK !!! Wait that may not be a cinder block , I’m not sure what it is.
Jimmy: he’s satirizing his own car and using the usual ad cliches.
Using absurdity to mock absurdity and unrealistic ads posted by many of the CL crowd when listing an old car.
I’m sure there’s wiggle room on the price.
Exactly this!
I’m tickled at how many readers/commenters are unclear on the concept. It makes the whole thing somehow even more funny.
He doesn’t talk about the two room furniture…the driver gets a living room chair and the passenger gets a dining room chair…how quaint…”laugh at the world” is an understatement….WOW…
